Brake Squeal Please Help
Recently purchased a 370z with sport brake package and I'm at around 5000 miles when I started hearing a squeal coming from my front right wheel. Assuming it is the brake. Noise occurs more at slow speeds and even when I'm not applying the brakes. My only idea to what it is, is that my pads are rubbing against the rotor. Brand new, stock everything. If you got any ideas help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Shouldn't be making noise if your not applying but sport breaks squeak when there cold
|
Yeah the noise is occurring even when I am not applying pressure to breaks. Car has 5000 miles so I will probably take it to Nissan. Cant think of it being anything else. Could it possibly be a build up of break dust.

Could be a small stone or other debris between the brake backing plate and the rotor.
If you are not confident enough to jack the car, remove the wheel, support the vehicle with a jack-stand and inspect the car yourself, take it to a dealer and give them the opportunity to separate you from your hard-earned cash ... A small stone or other road debris is the most likely explanation given that this occurs without using the brakes. |

if you're not into working on cars, take it to the dealer. |
Brake hardware not holding the pads correctly? Dealer bro if it's under warranty. They won't tell you this but brakes, alignment, and tires will be fixed on their dime the first year or 12k of owning your Z.
Edit....If it's defective. |
They should pull the tire, do a brake inspection. Most likely will grease the back of he pads, slides, and rails with High temp silicon grease. Fixes it for the most part. If your brakes are cold when you hear this, it is normal. If the rotors have rusted up due to a rain they will also make noise until the residue has been worn off.

Thanks for all the replies guys. As i was driving the other day I realized that it was more of a suspension issue, every time I turn hard right, it seems something in the front right suspension makes a weird noise. I will most likely take to dealer and see if they can figure it out. I will be purchasing bc coils soon so I want to get the problem fixed before they try and blame my "aftermarket suspension" for it..

It's the sway bar bushing or end link. Do a search on here.

I know its like a year later but for anyone looking through this thread. This noise is due to the actaul backing plate/dust cover rubbing the rotor. Thats why you also hear it more when Turning. Had the same issue with my Z. Took it to dealer to get it replaced. Other side started same issue. I just bent that one back enough with a screw driver to where it wouldn't rub.

I have done the same thing twice. And had a pebble between the backing plate and rotor. Both awful noises but glad they were easy fixes!!!
