Penske PS-7500-DA Double-Adjustable Coil-Over
I am looking at these for the front of my race car (the 18-year old Bilstein's have reached the end of their life and are no longer serviceable).
Does anyone have any experience with the Penske ?? Any feedback (positive or negative) would be useful. My alternative is Koni 2812 but they are on the pricy side. |
Penskes and Konis (especially their high end stuff like the 28s) are superb.
The main thing to consider as you get that high end, is forming a relationship with a shock builder/tuner. What makes those shocks great, is their flexibility to do just about anything a shock can do. But to get them there requires solid input to the build and valving process, which is made all the smoother by someone experienced in the field. Unless you know exactly what you want (rare) the good builder will take your input on how you want the car to handle, and build a set of shocks that get it there. You can still hose yourself with adjustments but again the tuner can help figure that part out too... Good luck! |

I had the opportunity to take a Penske coilover 370Z out for a drive both in the streets of NY and later at Wall Park raceway in New Jersey. all i can say if you can boot the cash for them, they are hands down the best set of coilovers i have ever driven on. absolutely NOTHING comes close to the performance of the Penske full triple adjustable coilovers.

Had Penske shocks on my motorcycles.....really great and easily rebuilt when its time for new seals and a recharge. Can easily change the shim stacks and valves when its in the shop.

Penskes are great, but there is competition that can hold its own with them up at that price point - Moton, Ohlins, Koni (28 series), MCS, and a few others. As you're approaching $1k/corner on shocks, it becomes more about having someone to make one of those brands work for you, vs. the capability of the units themselves.

Penske will work with you to get the shock set up for your style and type of driving, each one is custom made in terms of valving and spring rates. I sent my cycle shocks to them for rebuild and recharge every two or three years.

Nice shocks. :D About $5200 a set. That's right inline with the other top shelf shocks that I looked at.
