Review: Whiteline Front anti-roll bar
Rating: :thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
- Three thumbs down - Remember that Adam Sandler CD where he had the "piece of sh*t car" song? Read on... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Review: The Whiteline anti-roll bar is a solid piece, not hollow, so its heavy. - If you give a crap about a couple pounds THAT low on the body, please show me your lap times that prove it made a difference... It comes with the necessary hardware to install and even a grease packet  They come with "lateral locks" which are pretty much clamps to prevent the bar from moving. Neat trick. http://b.cdnbrm.com/images/products/..._installed.jpg ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HOWEVER... The lateral locks also provide the excellent service of REMOVING the bushing from the FU*K#&^ bracket while you drive. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary:
Update 1 week later Whiteline bar is now uninstalled and the OEM bar is back on the car. Whiteline support has found another vehicle's bushing which has the appropriate lip to keep the sway bar in place, and fits the 370z bar size. Warranty claims will be sending me a brand new Front Sway Bar because i had to drive "bushing-less" for 300 miles, with the bar rattling over every f*ing bump. Results
New bar and DIFFERENT bushings are on their way, free of charge. |
Other members have reported the samething with the locks. :(

I haven't seen a review of them?? |
I'll need to take a look at my bars, but I don't think that I have the bushing issue... My problem with the front bar was that I had to enlarge the mounting holes. The endlinks would not slide through the bar, forcing me to drill them out to fit.
|
Kenchan had issues with his bar as well I think.
|
i did, i just karate chopped it in half.
actually you need to set the collar locks to fit completely flush -0.5mm with the bar on both sides. ive not had the bushing push out since. but ive not tracked the car so dont know how well it hold ups on a road course. that said, if you only want the front bar, i suggest you get the stillen swaybar set and just use the front bar + stock bushings and clamps. |
I have both front and rear whiteline sways. I better get my car on a hoist to look into this.
|
I have been running these bars front and rear all year with 2 track days a month since Mar and haven't had any issues at all. The powder coating was a little thick on one of the front end link holes and needed to be reamed a little.

Similar to you pic. If i remember right turned them so the lock had the most bite against the bushing keeper. I gotta get under mine again later this week to do the oil and will snap a pic

I have seen this same issue before, But for the most part not to many have complained.
When I saw the first issue some years ago? I felt a little better going in the Hotchkis direction minus the rear bar :ugh2: If the company doesn't get enough complaints the issue will remain unfortunately. |

NOW the bushing has a tab on one side and a functional lip on the other. Before it was just two tabs, which didn't work. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...f.jpg~original |
At least their customer service is good

osbornsm,
Snapped a few pics for you. Here is what I think is happening to people who have these pushing out. #1 I have my locks much closer than you do .060 from the bushing clamp sticks in my head but, that could be wrong. BL=Need to be closer to the bushing clamp. #2 When these push out it is a compounding problem. By that I mean if you have your lock 1/4" away and the bushing rides the bar "pushes out" then the bar settles back to a normal balance after your corner is done. It doesn't mean the rubber bushing is following it back in, then another corner and you push it a little more etc... #3 This type of setup needs to be greased with good grease. The lack of grease will increase the stiction of the rubber and the bar when their is friction which causes it to follow or ride the bar. I have just over 9000 miles and 24 20 min track sessions on my setup. I did see just the slightest like 1/16" displacement in my driver side rubber bushing. I'm going to add Sway Bar re-grease to my 10,000 mi maintenance. Here are the pics for reference. Hope this helps you out. They are good bars but, I agree the Hotchins bushings are a much better design. http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps88g0rqfm.jpg http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/a...psqgddfy6f.jpg Just saw your above post :) looks like those bushings are the ticket. Can you buy those separably? |

|
Hey Kenchan...
I'm waiting on a new front sway to be shipped before re-installing. I had that bar rattling around for 300 miles on my drive home. They said "a few weeks". *sigh |

when you do install next time though, make sure that the collars are like flush to the bushings -0.5mm each side. |
still waiting, huh? :ugh:
|
a month coming up soon... :ugh2:
