Big brake recommendation - 09 370z sports pack - DD
Hello
just got my 09 370z sport package with 60k that I'm using as a daily driver. Im having a hard time searching for big brake pads(sport pkg), whenever i search for brakes pads I'm not sure if I'm looking at sport pkg or standard brake pads. is there a clear indication i have to look for that says these brake pads are for sport pkg or standard? and also Im not looking for the best performance or either the cheapest, just something that would be sufficient for a daily commute, i don't track either. How are OEM nissan brake pads ? EBC? Thanks in advance |
Refer to a reputable site such as Z1 Motorsports: Brakes
There you'll see distinctive, various options for both standard and Sport brakes. |
Whatever brand you go with, make sure you get pads with great initial bite. I have a 350Z with 370Z 40AE brakes with Hawk HPS pads and they've been great. No noise, and very minimal brake dust.

Thanks, How are the stock oem brake pads? my local nissan has the front pads for $112 and rear pads for $99, they said these are the standard brakes(i told him i have the sport nissan big brakes). Would you guys suggest to go with OEM or Hawk etc..
Also does anyone know the thickness measurements for front and back rotors for the sport package 370z? so i can't figure out if i should replace or resurface rotors. Thanks |
I DD PFCs OEM pads, they do great

Why spend a ton of money on a big brake kit? Just upgrade your pads and rotors and you'll be happier with their performance. Two piece rotors wouldn't even be necessary for your application. Maybe a fluid change to higher temp fluid if you really drive aggressively for a period of time.

I have the EBC Yellowstuff pads on both front and rear. It's been a good pad for DD. Not bad for trackday either starting out with. I'm ready to go with a different pad now. |
OEM pads for street, track pads for track
|
I highly recommend the Project Mu strest-sports line (especially the HC+)
Project Mu Co., Ltd. - PRODUCTS Pair these with BFGoodrich or Z1 SS brake lines -- night and day difference in stopping power and brake feel. Make sure you order the ones for the Akebonos. High performance stopping power (provided they aren't track only brakes, and perform poorly when cold...) are well worth it, even on a DD. |
