Default does nismo s-tune stuff bump you out of CS in autox?

Hey all,

I just bought this car recently for my dedicated track/autox car. I know that the nismo s-tune stuff is technically a factory option, so i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it and if it'll bump me out of the stock class if i get the sways, springs, and shocks? By technicality i imagine it wouldn't but i'm just looking for some confirmation before dropping the cash.

iirc Parts from a manufacturer's performance division are NOT seen as factory options. Also I believe these upgrades will bump you to STR if you get yourself a set of wheels and tires that comply with STR rules. If running narrow wheels and tires isn't your thing then it's ASP.

Welcome to the wonderful world of $hitty SCCA solo classing.

From the 2014 rulebook (Sec. 13):
Quote:
Parts available as replacements through the dealers parts
department, the factory, or any other source which do not meet standard
part specifications
(e.g., hardness, size, etc.) are non-compliant
in Street Category, except as specifically provided elsewhere in these
rules.

hmm, then i know quite a few people breaking the rules across the board.

I was in ASP with my WRX before, I am not going back to that... I guess it's time for a big front sway, and some beefy tires, like Z2 or ventus RS3

This will bump you. However, unless you're competing nationally I bet it would be overlooked.

problem is, nationals are so close to me, if i get a decent set of tires i might just go. Compared to the wrx, this car suits me a lot better, and a few pros have told me with some more practice i could actually be pretty good. So, now i'm trying to find what works to my advantage and drive my best, because unlike the wrx this car is very very well classed!

Except for ASP classing.

haha, yeah, after the wrx i'm looking to stay out of that. I'd much rather go up against the brz/frs/mx-5 crowd...

WRX is an ESP car...where it is basically THE car to have...unless your talking about a newer WRX (07+) then ya...good luck.

But, as for the those parts. At regional events a lot gets overlooked. But word has a way of making it to your competitors at national level. So be careful.
