New rotors /pads / stainless steel lines having issues!

Hello fellow z enthusiasts!

I need your help with this problem . I recently purchased the z1 brake package that included all the rotors, pads, and stainless steel lines . I have changed my brakes before and never had an issue . This time around after a few times of driving my steering wheel started to give me vibration and I felt the brakes pulsing even at low speeds (couldn't have been higher than 45) . I pulled over immediately and found black marks that looked like the pad . I was wondering if there is something I did wrong and if so how can I fix this? these rotors can't have more than 100 miles .

They have that marking in 1 spot?

It looks like you decided to go to the autobahn, slam on your brakes. Then sit somewhere with your foot on the brake pedal

Did they send you bedding in instructions with the brakes? Looks like the pads weren't bedded properly and a lot of material transferred over. Or you were on the autobaughn and slammed on the brakes and sat there for a while.

I'd say hit them with fine grit sandpaper to get that stuff off of there and try again. What brand pads does their kit come with?

FWIW, I run Z1 slotted rotors at the track with PFC pads and OEM brake lines and have never had any problems like what you are showing.

Yeah guys . All the rotors have these markings (like the pad sat there and burned lol)

I figured it's pad transfer which I never had a problem with in the past on my other z's.

I did do the bedding procedure (I never did it before why lie)
but the first few stops I did 60 to 0 like a rookie and later read it's not supposed to be a full stop .

at this point should I do the bedding procedure all over ?

Right now the car obviously pulses when I brake at low speeds . The rotors are the performance ones z1 offers with the whole kit . only thing I changed was upgraded the pads to stop tech

Go back on the autobahn, slam the brakes again, but don't stop for several miles to let the brakes cool back down

I think the problem was I slammed on brakes when they were hot while I was improperly bedding them . ( came to full stop after they were hot)

I'll hit the autobahn again then and re do this.
How many times should I brake ? ( read up that it's 60 to 30 right ?)

I'm assuming that should remove the big *** black pad I left on all rotors and get rid of the steering vibration and pulsing

From talking to a brake engineer, each manufacturer has their own bedding in recommendations, but the recommendations are NOT super scientific. In general a few easy stops from ~20 and moderate stops from ~40 without dragging the brakes. Before bedding them in again, I would resurface the rotors and hit them with brake cleaner.

I agree with everything, but... Ehhhhhh. Hell with resurfacing, too much work, brake glazing/bedding happens, OP obviously lives by the autobahn that has a red light at the end, lol, so he should just go back, do a nice hard 100 to 10mph, then drive for a few miles to cool the brakes.



OP, what pads are you using? I feel you have a cheap pad... Or you really DO live off the autobahn... Lol

Cheap pads??? I do use pads with wings it holds much better!
Don't like tampons makes me ticklish.

Ya, many of them have a bedding compound on the pads too. If that has already been worn away, you might have issues getting them to bed properly as well.

haha . The pads I got are stop tech . I haven't gotten a chance to heat these fuckers up but I'm hoping that's what fixes the issue . and no I don't live near the autobahn , I just ****** up and when I was doing the bedding process I probably didn't let them cool off enough and ended up parking with the brakes still hot .
