Better brake pad

I'm looking for a brake pad that would be better than OEM. Don't know if I want to go all the way to a track pad (since this is my DD) but I am doing a few AutoX events and some times under hard braking I feel like I need just a bit more. Is there a pad that will give me a better initial bite for quick hard braking?

Carbotech XP10 up front and XP8 in the rear. Just changed mine and did my first autox with them. Huge improvement in braking although they are partially responsible for me cording a month old set of hoosiers . Might be more pad than your looking for but then again you won't know if you don't try. Also fwiw the pads make NO noise during normal braking which I know for some is a concern.

I use XP10s all around, they dust, they squeal, and they stop better than anything I've had before (which isn't a whole lot). They will use your tires up faster just because they will let you use more of your tire.

I will say it is VERY easy to change pads the day of an autocross so you could always run different pads (I guess you are supposed to change rotors to at the same time). If not though, I will say I daily drove and autocrossed HPS and they did great for me in my S14.

ive heard good things about the carbotech bobcats in terms of increased initial bite. they would probably fade on an auto-x course though. id avoid any of the XP series if youre driving on the street. i swap mine before every track day, and by the time i get to the track from my house, the wheels are covered in a thick black dust. cant imagine running them daily.

great suggestions.

other things i would consider is stickier tires.. and light weight wheels.

Tires are on my want list but I just ordered a new set of Forgestar's and tires for daily use so I don't have a lot if tire budget at the moment. I'm running some Michelin pilot sports (bought used) and 18" base model wheels.

yah, could be that your brakes are fine, but tires not having enough contact.
that will obviously lengthen your braking distance due to tire capacity.

bleed brakes too i suppose. GL

Anyone tried the Carbotech AX6? Carbotech says they were designed to AutoX but only show them fitting up to 2011 370Z. Something different about the newer models sport brakes?

Options for a trackable street pad or a streetable track pad - however you want to view it (some are more cost-viable outside the US as US-based providers can offer a "lot" better pricing than that available from non-US suppliers).

Endless MX72
Project Mu HC+ although this has now been replaced by HC800

The CarboTech range are also really popular in the US but I have not really seen them used outside the US

You have lots of options

I guess my decision needs to be do I put money into Beale pads, or put that money toward better tires? I think I know the answer.....

Wait a sec...did you say your brakes caused you to prematurely cord your Hoosiers? If so I am so glad R comps are out next year.

My vote, Carbotech AX6 - great autoX pad for initial bite with consistent braking feel to stop. I have used on my STi and Mustang with great long lasting(for autoX and street) results. As for tires, yes better tires is always more important than pads. Pads = Priority #2.

Still getting used to the increased bite of the carbotechs, that's what caused it more than anything. Also R-Comps might be out for CS but I run ASP so R-Comps are still the price to play.
