Base brake upgrade?
I auto cross my car about every two weeks and my pads are coming to an end and the front rotors cannot be spun anymore. I was thinking about doing the Z1 non-sport brake upgrade with slotted only rotors and stop tech pads. I don't have the money laying around for the sport upgrade package or I would do that, maybe next year when these bite the dust. I do notice the OEM rotors get hot and glazed on a hot day of autox that's why I was thinking about slotted and a better pad.
Are these a good buy or should I just get OEM replacement's and better pads? Thanks |

Yha... About that, those do look great but they are $1300 and the base upgraded rotors are $500. I'm just looking for a short term better alternative for the next year until my yearly race car budget replenishes.

So should I just get OEM rotors and better pads to hold off a few months to get the akebonos or something better? I just want a good non-$5000 brake upgrade for next year but until then something that I can acctually help me in autox being on the base non-sport brakes.

just buy some good pads (something like bobcat or even xp8 for now) and some cheap rotors from advance auto for <$100. Save your money on calipers over the winter, no need to waste money on something you will throw out in a year. The car can only stop as fast as the tires anyway. Pads will run you $400 at the most, rotors $100. Or you can skip straight to the akebono for like $2000
I think I met you at one of the FCSCC event two years ago. |
