This is getting out of hand...
1st track day: Boil Superblue fluid
2nd track day: Add motul fluid and brake ducting consequently warps DBA 2-piece rotors. I thought the whole point of 2-piece rotors was to get rid of the warping tendencies? - I'm running Sumitomo HTZIII tires, so nothing too sticky. - Carbotech XP8 pads F/R - DBA 5000 V3 rotors And NO, i didn't go to the track and then wash my car immediately after. Can you "cut" 2-piece slotted rotors? - If yes, can they just "take off the high spots" to not loose too much rotor mass? |
Some people think 2 piece rotors are more prone to warping actually because the aluminum doesn't heat up at the same rate as the cast iron.
You CAN cut or turn or resurface the rotors as you would normal rotors, but I still think that once you cut warped rotors, they will warp almost immediately. Don't hate me, but I think your problem is that you're using your brakes way to much, use the engine brake more |

I'm working on carrying more speed thru corners... i swear!! lol Although I do have the 370z record on the tracks i've been to so far :p |
Would getting some stickier tires save your brakes some? You're going to be killing one or the other driving like that.

id get stickier tires and use more engine braking... then perhaps you dont need to slow down as much to make your turn.
ive not heard of people using those sumi's on the track... or are you drifting?... hell i wouldnt even run those on street. :D |
They were only $550 shipped... and NO not drifting (on purpose).
But yeah, they're nothing special. Sumitomo's DO give good audible feedback on their traction status however. |

Be careful with what you do with your brakes when you are stopped after a session. Take an appropriate cool down lap. Park on a level surface in the paddock area. Get your foot off the brake and don't use the parking brake (wheel chocks if you have to). Allow your brakes to cool as much as possible without the pads touching the rotors.

Perhaps you've seen my thread dedicated to the topic: - Track Day best practices. :tiphat: |
Did u bed your pads in properly
|
I re-bed the pads before / after each track day as i swap out pads on the DBA rotors.
|
pricy, but stoptech trophy brakes have never let me down and eliminated every issue I have ever had.

Thanks for posting this.
