Left rotor worn more than right rotor
Crappy title I know. Here is my predicament. Steering wheel shakes every time I brake. Took my Nismo in to the dealership to have them check that and the suspension. They called me back and tell me they can cut the rotors once under warranty, so I say ok. They come back and tell me that the left rotor has worn more than the right one. To the point that the cant safely cut the rotors so they are going to replace it, under warranty. While I'm glad they are replacing it, my concern comes down to the reason why that rotor is worn more than the other. What should I ask them? My warranty is up in 300 miles and I'm afraid they're just gonna push me off to keep from having to fix the real problem.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ask to extend a warranty on the brakes. also ask if they can diagnose why it did this in the first place

What would cause that at all the begin with? A stuck caliper?

Sounds like a caliper hanging up. How was the wear on the brakes themselves?

Looked normal had over 50% left last time I checked them. About south or so ago. I hadn't noticed anything different between the passenger and driver side.

The dealership told...me they were about 50%

Cause could be any number of things, best option is to just extend the warranty if possible.
The most likely cause i could think of left/ right brake imbalance is: - Wrapped disc on either side - Clogged brake hose on either side - Different disc used on either side - Different pads used on either side - Jammed caliper pistons on either side - Bad wheel alignment - Bad camber adjustment - Bad bearing slack adjustment |
Your warranty is up in 300 miles and they warrantied out is disc for you? WOW, I need to come to your dealer

Yea I was pretty surprised to be honest.

What dealer, please? :tiphat: |

Bad camber adjustment has nothing to do with the rotor. The bearings are unit bearing. So there is no adjustment on them. But if the unit bearing s starting to go bad. It could cause some isses. ;) |
Maybe like a metal grinding noise whenever I go over a bump..??

So due to "brake run out" my rotor was beyond the limit to which they could resurface it? So they replaced the one rotor. The brake pads on that rotor were worn equally, according to them, so it wasn't a problem with the caliper.
I'm at a loss here. Any advice? |
