Car stutters braking at high speeds

So yea if in going like above 70 and brake normally my wheel stutters. Is this normal? Is it a warped rotor, alignment? Any ideas?

Okay you have a couple choices.

1. Warped Rotors = Only an issue if you race your car
2. Pad deposits = Totally possible
3. Alignment = Only an issue if it happens ALL the time. Not just under braking.

Not trying to bump in, but what causes pad deposits?

Oh, hey, hi there! http://www.the370z.com/brakes-suspen...-deposits.html

That was my follow up question lol

Most likely you were doing some very hard braking, stopped the car put your parking brake up or had your foot on the brake pedal for a long time while at a light or something.
This is enough to cause your pads to melt, which creates excessive "pad deposits" on your rotors. The absolute sure fire fix is to change your pads and resurface your rotors, doing some hard braking or a brake pad bedding procedure may or may not help.

It's highly unlikely you actually warped the rotor.

Either rotors need to be resurfaced or wheels need to be balanced.

your front rotors are warped if the steering wheels shakes if you feel it in your butt and feet your rears may also be warped. it does take much to warp the stock rotors

Minsu 04-15-2014 10:32 AM

Wait so my steering wheel shakes. so my front rotors are warped!?
Why though? I dont see a reason for it to be warped. its been cold as balls.

Very untrue. You realize the stock rotors are cast iron right. It takes a crap load of heat to warp them.
What most people feel in rotor shake are deposits, not warpage.
"Warped" rotor replacement is the most over-sold fix that shops do.

It's pad deposits from holding the brake at red lights most likely.

Parking brake has nothing to do with it. Parking brake is a separate drum brake. But it most likely is pad deposits on the front rotors.

I stand corrected i guess lol my rotors have 30k miles on them. 10k from me, 20k from previous owner. I can feel it shaking even all the way down to 0mph and it shakes bad at high speeds. you think its just pad deposits? whenever i warped the rotors on my wrx tracking they did the same thing thats why i figured this was the same. and the butt/feet vs pedal and steering wheel is not untrue

i would personally get a scotch bright bad and rubbing alcohol or a rotor hone and clean your rotors to see if that fixes it. also, you can still warp your rotors when its cold. i think i warped mine from braking hard at 120 because I thought a broken down charger was an unmarked police car. i know you're never supposed to brake heavily at those speeds but it was just my reaction. ever since then my rotors shake a little and its been months. although they are 14 inch iron cast rotors i still feel that there is a chanced that i warped them after some mess ups lol

Hmm I do occasionally break from 140 but it's not abrubt by any means
