I was speaking with a friend about going to a track day in the future with my 2013 Nismo. He had mentioned that three of his friends had 2013 Nismo's that went into the wall towards the end of a track day due to front break failure and I was told to proceed with caution. I have had Z's, but new to the Nismo. I wanted to know if anyone else has also heard/had this problem. I don't want to take it to the track or the mountains and worry about having break failure. They were all guys who race and have experience with cars as well. Not newbies to track days. Love to hear some feedback. Thanks! ![]()

The Nismo has the same brakes as the sport package, the pads and brake fluid are not really track ready off the showroom floor. If you are planning to track, replacing the pads with something track ready, and getting some high-temp brake fluid should greatly reduce the chance of sudden brake fade.
On the street/mountain roads you should be fine though, ive really abused my brakes on backroads and the problem i ran into was warped rotors, never had fade. |

Appropriate pads. Good fluid. Ti shims. Brake cooling ducts. Problem solved.
Have separate track pads and street pads. They're easy to swap out.

Cooling ducts should be on the 13/14 nismo. Z1 motorsports sells a brake & fluid upgrade kit.... Check it out.

Also, pretty sure we would have heard if three 2013 NISMOs had been put into walls @ track days.
Sounds like someone read that stupid Car & Driver article from 2009 and made up their own version. ![]() Last edited by Sh0velMan; 11-06-2013 at 04:01 PM. Reason: edited for clarity |

That was my guess. "I read" turns into "a guy I know" pretty quickly.

First time tracking the car. Start slow and work your way up. Good pads, and Motul brake fluid. Then Ti heat pads, cooling ducts, 2 piece rotors. Only do what you can afford, and your skill level.

Yea. I have only had the Nismo 5 days. I grew up on the track so I know how to drive, but want to spend the time getting to know my new car and how she handles. She's defiantly different than my 07' and I could really push the limits in that one.

Talk to the track rats here. I'm following on what they here to say. It's been good advice. Watch on your selection on pads. Too much bite up front and a rear wheel locks for a sec, and you can get ice-mode if you're a heavy braker.

I think the '13 Nismos have SS lines already, so other than pads with better bite and maybe Dot 4 fluid, you should be okay.
