Default Zeal Suspension for 370z ?

Why does it seem like Zeal suspension setups aren't as popular with the 370z crowd as the 350 crowd ? Everyone seems to be running the KW V3, which is what I ran on my 350z and LOVED them. I am not saying the KW are bad because they are AWESOME, but I would like to know what's up with Zeals also and how they compare on the 370z to the KW's.

Zeals and Ohlins are the high end coils that KW tries to replicate. They happen to replicate them so well that they are now just replacing them all together.

Well the V3 isn't a Zeal as far as performance though so would the Clubsport be a closer comparison ? I was under the impression the Clubsport is too aggressive for a daily driver yet the Zeals are used in DD conditions all the time.

B1nks, having used both the Zeals and the Clubsports and currently owning V3s, I can tell you that the other of most drivable to least drivable on the street is: V3 - Clubsports - Zeals.

Granted the biiig difference is in the spring rates that you choose. The Zeals I tested were very high rates so the car was uncomfortable to say the least.

What I don't understand is why you all think that KW is trying to replicate anything. There are very successful race cars from decades ago running KWs and there are supercars today that are running KW suspensions from the factory. KW is currently very involved in WTCC, FIA GT, LeMans, etc. I don't see any supercars using Zeals or Zeal's long racing heritage, nor do I ever hear the word Zeal outside of JGTC.

Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with them, they are excellent coilovers...I don't know that I would put them up there with the higher end Ohlins or Motons, but they are definitely good coils. Being able to pick up a set of KW Clubsports for half the price of the Zeal V6's is a huge deal breaker for me though..

RCZ, what do you think of JIC magic suspensions for the 370z? Im not familiar with them other than what is on their website. Do you or anyone you know have any experience this these? They are not out yet so I guess the point of reference would have to be from a 350Z point of veiw?

Sorry, I have no experience with them sir. Someone else is going to have to chime in.

I've always seen JIC around for their exhausts and coilovers, but never actually owned anything made by them. From the "feel" that I get from the company I would venture to say they are similar to a Tein or a BC.

I dont know about that RCZ - I would put JIC magic up there w/ the zeals ... not quite motons or ohlins ... but up there... I would imagine they are in the league of the cuscos / HKS's etc...

From what i hear - they make really nice coils ... I myself will be getting the good ol KW v3s w/ some cusco sways for stiffening-ness

As a dealer for all of the above, this is simply not true

There are numerous differences between KW and Zeal, or KW and Ohlins, most notably in the materials used, the way the valving is layed out internally, and in the ability for customization.

As far as comfort goes, spring rate along does not determine it - it's the relationship between the rate, the valving, and the wheel/tire combo that ultimately defines what our butts consider comfortable, or uncomfortable, or something in between

As far as JIC, comparing them to anything Zeal (both in terms of product quality, and the overall buying/ownership experience) they are polar opposites.
