HKS Hipermax III

Here is a review for those of you looking to change out your stock suspension on your 370z to something else.. like coilovers.
(BTW I loved the way the stock Sport suspension rides out of the box)

I went with something else to compliment and have adjustable for my Z's new shoes and it turned out that Lou @ amplified was ready to hook me up with the Hipermax III coilovers. Thanks Lou for the hookup and setup those guys are great!
It looks like they settled a bit so I am ready for another small height correction/adjustment.I really dont want to go crazy on the ride height so I left it decent without being slammed which isnt what I want nor do I want clearance issues..just a subtle drop is all.

On to the review:

The first thing you notice - (assuming its a decent road) - is not much. I mean this is a good way because it feels pretty much like stock although dont kid yourself it is much firmer. You notice these coilovers more in slow driving situations over irregular pavement or asphalt for sure..its not bad just you know they are stiffer then stock. So far for the most part they do there job over most roads and they are quiet which is good. On my last Z I had a pair of Hipermax RS models and to me they rode just about perfect...these ride very similar but I would say they are just a bit firmer. Over washboard and rippled roads here is where I think you need to play with the adjustment because these tend to be a bit more stiff not really the roads you want to frequent but be advised this is probably the only place that the stock suspension feels more compliant but not by much. I think these coliovers will do a little better over stock if you plan on going to the track and adding anything sways or grippier tires it would be a pretty decent setup..not hardcore just better then stock in this setting.

I have been riding these for a few weeks now so these have been my impressions thus far....Better turn in, more responsive and less dive or squat when braking or accelerating but the payoff comes at more stiffness and less compliance than stock particularily over irregularities. This doesnt change the planted feel of the car though.
