Coilovers
I just purchases Stance Super Sport coilovers and I should be getting this sometime next week. I was told that this is all I need to drop my Z even though it seems like everyone on here that has coilovers also get chamber kits/control arms.
So, do I or do I not need chamber kits/control arms? I only intend to lower the height enough to close the gap between the tires and the fenders. Last edited by Alexwallace23; 10-13-2013 at 10:46 AM. |

Camer kits always help with tire wear. Just have to be cautious on the clearance on fenders when your doing it. Rolling may be a good idea.

It depends.
If you want factory settings and you drop the car you will 100% need camber kits. If you don't drop and leave it factory height or near factory you could get away with OEM stuff and still be in spec. If you bought coilovers for the right reason (for what they were intended) then you will lower and be 100% out of spec. However OEM spec sucks azz as a proper setup!! You could get lucky and lower and be at a perfect setup for what coilovers were intended (kind of a race setup). It all depends on your final goals. I will say this though...the left and right side normally never match so one way or another you will need everything so everything is even and set properly.

Rear camber with toe, front control arms gave me peace of mind. Why not just do it all at once and be done if you can. Well worth every penny, my man is sitting just right.

I just spoke with a friend of mine that has a Nismo. He lowered his Z with coilovers and no chamber kits or control arms. I know the Nismo suspension components are different from the touring sports package Z, but is there that much of a difference that will make getting chamber kits an absolute necessity?
All I want to do for the time being is lower the height. I will not race the car, but I might take it on a track someday just for the experience. |

If you lower the car you may want the camber kit. Not having it will effect tirewear also if its not slightly tucked and you hit a speedbump wrong you could mushroom your fenders. Thode are mostlikely the two most common needs for camber kits.

Nothing special, BC BRs dialed in pretty low and spacers with stock Ray's. I just ddidn't want to take a chance and eat up my tires.

Did you have to get your tires tilted inward in order for them to clear the fenders when you dropped it?
I have 20mm spacers all around and I still remember you telling me to go with 25mm on the rear. I'm going to stick with the 20mm because the tires are right inline with the fenders. |

I got kinetix. I have fronts only and have close to 33k and love em. The stock bushings were shot at 22k lol. They are greasable bushings which I like. I think they are a solid setup. I cant speak on the rears but im sure they are great. Z1motorsports sells the front and rear as a set also.

Hmm...ok. I purchased the Supersport + and I think I'm gonna go with a cup kit for problem areas. I'm still researching if I'm going to need a camber kit with that.

My friend that recommend the Stance to me insists that I do not need chambering kits because the Super Sports have chamber plates installed. I'm assuming the + would also have this. So I'm going to go ahead and install just the coilovers sometime next week. Afterwards, I will get an alignment and if I run into any issues because of the stock suspension components then I will look into chamber kits. I will give an update after it's done.
