Swift Spring install question
I have an important question
I've researched and can't find any pics to reference I saw one tread that someone had their springs installed upside down and they describe my situation I am seeing the mechanic tomorrow and want to address the problem if this is the case Here are some pics for reference Front http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...f53d6a3209.jpg Rear http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/...a978d24ed8.jpg |
Yes, your pic's are with them installed upside down. The close wound coils should be at the top. Plus the logos are upside down ;)
|
Wtf?! How can they make this mistake? Was there any instructions included with the box? The upside down SWiFT logo should have been an indication which side is up lol
|
yep they're upside down! what is your situation? how does this feel?
|
I thought so but figured they would know best : (
My curiosity is what got me uneasy and made me post Thanks for your help guys And just to confirm you are 100% sure right lol I emailed swift also to double check Lol |
It rides fine actually
I was just uneasy since I did see the logo upside down so I wanted to confirm |
yes 100% sure. logo is upside down-makes no sense. plus i don't think the coils lineup properly with either the cup in the rear or the front shock properly when they're upside down
|
wow the fronts dont even look like they are seated in that picture?
maybe i just dont see it in the picture, looks wierd |
Jlo370z - what do you mean by seated?
I would like to know so I can make sure it is done correctly this time |
Thanks for the input fellas
On the way to the mechanic now to get this all straightened out |

edit: see what he's talking about. doesn't even look to be on at all... |
that spring doesnt look compressed, it looks like its just floating there (front)
there is a top hat with rubber boot and a bottom plate with slight indents the shape of the end of the coils that each end sits in. yours from the photo, looks like it isnt in the bottom one. could be an optical illusion, idk, just looks like it isnt |
I agree. They are definitely upside down. The spring won't seat properly because of this. Not seated=spring not properly place in strut or housing so the spring isn't parallel to the strut or spring, tilted. I would be interested to see if the ride height at each corner is the same. My bet is that they aren't the same. Easy fix but I won't trust that mechanic with any else from here out.

Take a look here, not the same spring, but nice pictures for comparison.

Thanks for all the help
I appreciate all the input Springs fixed : ) Back to the modding lol Hope everyone has a great weekend |
