Stock Suspension (and Wheels)
 

i apologize in advance for being such a noob, but i bought my 370Z a few months ago and im loving it with with aam true dual and HFCs. im looking to get set up with tires and wheels after the intake install and UpRev tune, but my car is my daily drive and i dont want to lower it with the roads in the DC area. i had a lot of issues with the last car i dropped 15 years ago, and i do not want to repeat the same mistakes here.

i know there's a lot of aesthetic issues with "filling the gap" when it comes to the large wheel base on the 370s, but im willing to compromise a bit if i dont have to change tires and get an alignment every 6 months. anyone out there have aftermarket 19's with stock suspension, and any pics or tips they'd like to share? id really like to see how it would like with black TE37s or TSW Mirabeaus. much appreciated!

What about a mild drop like swift springs

a 1.2-1" drop (i.e. Swift springs) would look perfect, and probably wouldn't cause me any clearance issues. its something that i would consider, but my main concern is ride quality on a DD, alignment issues, tire wear, and the maintenance/money id have to put in into taking care of those things.

from what i've read, quality and wear vary from car-to-car and driver-to-driver, but i would love to hear everyone's experience with comfort, fixing the alignment, and how often tires would need to be changed with a 1" drop on stock springs.

What about stepping up to 20", a lot more expensive would fill the gap. Then you dont have to worry about alignment or any other issues but your vehicle might be taller. I personally run Teins with rear control arms and toe bolts love the set up but should of done coils just cause it would be easier to install.

rule of thumb is to get the gap less than or equal to 1/2 the height of your sidewall.

so if running 20's, you'd want to run shorter sidewall tires and either run a tad more conservative offset not to emphasize the squarer shoulders of the tires, or lower it a tad more vs a 19" setup.

thanks guys. i was thinking about 20s but the ride looks a bit too tall without lowering. the size of the sidewall might also make for a rougher ride. 20" TSW Mirabeaus are pretty sick looking on 370s, but I havent seen any pics without the car being dropped a bit.

the other option im thinking about are 19" black TE37s with 265/35/19 x 305/30/19 tires. the diameter of the tires would be less then 1/2" smaller than what i have on my stock 18"s, which are pretty good at filling the gap IMO. i also think TE37s with the beefier tires would give me a track-ready type look.

I would personally go with the 19's, I moved up from the base 18's to 19's and lowered on coilovers, but for what your goin for I think the 19's would look good and with a mild drop would really set it off. I think 20's are too big for these cars unless your just goin for the looks.
