Lowering Springs for Nismo

Hey guys, a have a couple questions for those that have installed lowering springs on their Nismo. I have an 09 Nismo and I love the way it rides and handles, but I want to close the tire to fender gap by about an inch, front and back without changing the ride / handling too much. So with that in mind, and based on the spring specs in “Trips” post, it seems the Eibach Pro or Tien springs would be the way to go (?) – due to the similar spring rates.
I understand that the Nismo stock ride height is about half an inch lower than base or sport models. Should I then assume that a 1” drop spring will result in a half inch drop for the Nismo due to its “pre-lowered” state(?)

Any positive or negative feedback from other Nismo owners with spring kits, ride / handling, general drivability etc would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a Nismo but what I do know is check and make sure they removed allllll the buffer shocks around your springs from shipping. Get under there and feel around. Just might get some free lowering. Lol also swift are the best hands down. You will scrape no matter how careful you are. Always remember that

I've had Swifts and Ark on the 370Z. Swifts are great, but certainly not the best. The best is what gives the perfect drop for the owner, considering 90% of drop spring customers don't worry about track use. If they did, they'd be getting coilovers. With that said, Swifts just don't drop the car enough. Ark GT-S on the other hand, drops it too much--for me at least. Aside from making the car scrape everywhere, Ark GT-S springs are less squeaky. Let's face it, it's easy to say a set of springs are great and comfortable when the drop is barely noticeable.

I'm just saying they're better bc u don't have to worry about scrapping on a burrito if you're on swifts.

I must admit, you're right. I wish Eibach made Sportlines for our cars though.

New guy here looking for a list of additional components to do this right. Control arms etc? I just came over from the mini truck scene, more accustomed to airbags and fabricating than "tuners". This will take some time but my new Z is making it E-Z to be inspired.

Just dropped my Nismo on swifts at the recommendation of trusted forum members. The drop is perfect. Zero regrets and amazing drives like stock. I also added rear camber kit and spacers all around. Now onto HFC's, intake and tune!!!

How does lowering springs on stock setup effect camber, toe etc?

FLUJOKE 07-13-2016 04:48 PM

Lowering the car with just springs and no other adjustment will increase toe and camber outside of acceptable levels. I. E. Wear the sh*t out of your tires.

So what should you couple your spring kits with to get camber back to where it should be? online is saying some alignment kits...thought?

Second question: do coilovers cause the same issues? How do you ensure the right camber after install

Hotrodz 07-13-2016 07:38 PM

With springs, get spl camber arms and spc toe bolts...coil overs you may need front A arms and if you track it is a must. I have both and my alignment guy love them and me too!
