Best Racing Brake Pads, Rotors for 2009 370Z Sport
Hi all - Someone recommended that I get Carbotech or Ferodo racing brake pads for my 2009 370Z sport. I take it to the track every now and then, and the stock pads burn up in a few laps. My rotors are terribly etched and need replaced.
I want a racing pad that doesn't squeal/noise/dust too much because it will also be my daily pad. Recommendation for the specific make/model? Send me links... I'm new to this! Also, for rotors, got a recommendation for a good slotted rotor? Same issue - must be for track and daily use. Daisi |

You wont find a quiet, low dust pad that can handle a lot of heart. If you are serious at the track, your brakes will be able to hit 900*+ very quickly and street pads will be fading at the point. I swap mine out at home the night before and deal with the dust and noise on the drive to and from the track. My favorite street pad so far is the carbotech 1512, but it is not suitable for track use. Tracked them once just so I could see what they were like when pushed. After a couple mins they were starting to fade but it was very gradual and easy to control. Carbotech has them listed from ambient to 800*. Their AX6 is on my short list since I track on street tires. As for rotors, DBA seems to be pretty popular but I have no experience with them.

I have EBC red stuff on stock rotors. I changed my brake fluid to motul 660 and I have the SS lines. I've taken the car 3 times to the Nurburgring. I hot laped it the last time with no brake issues what so ever.

I literally can't swap them. I live outside the United States in an apartment building with nowhere to take tires on/off, let alone brakes. Mechanics aren't allow to operate inside the city I live in, so I have to drive 30 minutes opposite direction from the track to get them swapped. And I'd have to pay to have it done every time. No way.
I just need a brake pad that is better than the stock pads. I don't race the car super hard, but the heat here is often 110 degrees, so I have to get something better. If swapping is not an option, what do you recommend? |

If you can't swap pads, there is no solution that will give you track-worthy performance and conform to your requirements above. If you are experienced on the track, even if you don't track often, you should probably suck it up for noise/dust during DD use and go with a track oriented pad. Although a good compromise might be to change pads at your shop a few days before the track event and then swap back after the event.

The set-up I have is the stainless Z1 lines, Motul 660 brake fluid, Racing Brake 2 piece rotors, Hard Braking Ti heat sheilds, the RC brake ducts, and the YellowStuff pads. It's a good DD set-up that can be used at trackdays.
NOW, as my learning curve moves up. I'm ready to go to another brake pad.

I run project mu CR at the track but as I got faster they are now not enough heat temp range. I will most likely try Project MU 999 full race pad.
the CR are not exactly a track pad.... more of a DD/slight track pad that doesnt need to be switched out. |
