In my experience, most track pads require heat in them for them to work properly. When I have used my track pads driving to/from the track, I experience much longer stopping distances. I would caution against using a track pad for DD.

I have really enjoyed my hawk HP+ pads in the two autox events ive done. Supposedly they're good for that seeing as they dont have to get up to temp to have some bite to em. The real test (road course) for them is Wednesday. They havent been loud really but they dust horribly! I also have the z1 ss lines and motul rbf600 fluid.

You're absolutely right. I didn't mean an all out racing pad for DD. But if you have to pick one pad for both track and DD, I would pick one that leans more towards track use. Your tolerances are a lot tighter at the track when pushing the car, and I'd rather not put my car into the wall because of brake fade. It is a balance that each individual has to consider based on their ability at the track and the amount of track time vs street time.

Totally depends on the car and the pad.

My RC6 are a pretty hardcore track pad but they bite just as hard when cold as I could possibly want.

That said, I've never driven with them in the winter, so I really don't know how they'd be below 60-70 degrees for the first few stops, YMMV.
