Does anyone know what it would take to get the front Brembo calipers off a Hyundai Genesis to fit the base Z? I'll probably have to have a bracket custom

Brembo off a Hyundai Genesis for 370z base model
Does anyone know what it would take to get the front Brembo calipers off a Hyundai Genesis to fit the base Z? I'll probably have to have a bracket custom made, right?

It's not just the caliper bracket you have to worry about. The piston sizes are likely different. The caliper itself might be the same size but the pistons might be different. This won't affect fitment of the caliper, but it will affect stopping performance and feel as each caliper is designed for a particular application.

I'd look into the rotors too. Rotors are custom made for cars and besides different bolt patterns, they also have different offsets, hub diameters, widths, etc. So worst case is you need the entire wheel hub assembly from the Hyundia custom fit to your car. My guess is an aftermarket brake kit designed for the 370 would be the way to go.

Brakes are probably the most important safety feature on your car. Why in god's name would you put a half-azzed kit together from another car when you have a perfectly functional one already on your car? Yeah it's not that pretty, but it works. Just get the Sports Package Akebonos and call it a day. Not saying it wouldn't work with some fabrication, but why risk it to save a few bucks?

Definitely just go with Akebonos if you're strapped for cash, since you can get a new kit with upgraded rotors for less than 2k which includes pads and SS lines. Or get a used one for close to 1k. And the OEM Brembo kits that come with cars in our price range aren't going to be as good as their aftermarket kits. It's more of a branding thing than a quality improvement although they definitely still are better than base brakes. (Think about how Recaro makes seats for Ford which aren't the same as their aftermarket ones).

I have powdercoated a few sets of those. I'm pretty sure, if I remember correctly, that the mounting ears are really close to the caliper, meaning that they won't work, unless you went to a much smaller rotor. As for space between the two mounting bolts, that probably won't match up either, but I can't say for sure, as I never compared them.

You just need to upgrade the pads if you're really going to push. The brake fluid is a must though Switching to ss brake lines, And 2 piece rotors wouldn't hurt either But that depends if you decide to track often Last edited by Trips; 07-27-2013 at 08:36 PM. |

Some form of ducting would be tops on my list if there was heavy track use in my cars future.

Keeping heat out of the caliper is keeping heat in the pads. This is a big trade off on pad life. Good calipers and fluid is part of the overall heatsink system.

I'd rather shorten pad life than boil the fluid and stuff the car into a wall because I hit the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor. Everything's a trade off.
