H&R Spring with stock shocks??
Does anybody in here running H&R Spring with stock shocks? I got mine installed with the stock shocks but it's very very bumpy and harsh. Does it looks like that the stock shocks are wearing out or the stock shocks cannot damper the H&R spring rate? I'm aware that Swift Springs are good but before I go with Swift, I just want to make sure that the stock shocks are not causing the bumpy problem. Thanks.

I've had mine for 10 months now and time to change the shocks. The sport springs give you an aggressive stance and the shocks do take a beating. I do not find it harsh and bumpy though. It is to my liking. It is recommended that the shocks are replaced when new springs are installed but I did not do that. I really like the aggressive stance that you get H&R's. The car looks great. What I can tell you is this, a mountain run to Palomar Mountain last May and through Topanga recently simply told me that springs give you the look but when you push it, you do not feel as confident. For day to day driving with occassional pushing, it's great but in the end a set of coilovers will be the best scenario for me.

ive been running the factory nismo shocks on a set of tein springs for over 55k miles now. daily driven, but no track days.
everything still feels solid to me. no bounce yet. i figure when things gets bouncy its time for some koni yellows. Last edited by fuct; 07-19-2013 at 12:23 PM. |

I ran H&R springs on stock shocks and regret it. I wanted to most drop you could get with only springs so I went with the H&R. It fell worst than stock. I felt more body roll with the springs. Used them for one summer season and changed up to BC coilovers. I should have went to coilovers from the beginning. H&R springs aren`t bad but it wasn`t for me, but I'm pretty sure if I would have kept shocks they would have taken a huge beating seeing as the roads up here in Montreal Canada aren't made for our low cars.
my recommendation is to look into coilovers from the begining

I'm on oem shocks/struts with H&Rs. Shocks and struts have 12k'ish on them and it rides great. Its a hair bumpier than stock was but overall not bad at all. Handling feels great once aligned and I dont notice anything more than the stock springs setup. It is low, especially the front but, to me, it's perfect.
