Fortune Auto Coilovers - Who's got them?
So, how many users do we have running 500's 510's or Dreadnoughts?
I'm planning on getting a set of 510's in the next month or so, so I'm interested in impressions and observations of anyone using these for the Track, Autocross or even just spirited street driving. Thx! |

from the 350Z and 240sx community I heard only good things about the brand and customer service being stateside for rebuiltability of thier products...
I'm going with them or PBM on my next set because of a provided dyno sheet for your set which is a plus on quality control!

I took my car equipped with the 500 series and Swift upgrades to the Dragon this year for ZDayZ. I couldn't believe my car was capable of the way it performed that week. I don't autox/track it (yet), so I apologize for my lack of information specific to your application. I will say that a professional driving/autox instructor drove it and commented a number of times on how well-balanced the car was, and how he couldn't find any complaints/vices with my car or the way it was setup. I'm also running nismo s-tune sways and RE11's.

This is exactly why I am going with them. Dyno sheet + stateside facilities for rebuilds/re-valving. Quote:
The 500's aren't a true rear coilover, are they? I'm pretty sure the 510's are... |

Correct. Rear on the 500 is OEM-style. I believe I read they switched from a true type rear to the OEM for performance reasons. I'll try to find the source.

This is believed to be one of the best at this price range, seems like a great bang for buck. The only thing is regarding the individual dyno testing may be a little misleading (not a big deal however).
Link below, see post from "terry@f" 6/13/2011 11:39pm, response to the discussion. Fortune Auto Coilovers [Archive] - Nissan Road Racing Forums Again, looks like a great setup for the price, just wanna shine light into a particular point so other readers have the correct expectation for their future purchases. |

Then comes the heated debate on suspension dynamics, and purpose of a coilover system....many self proclaimed auto x expert drivers well bash all products not European or American made... In Japan, and what these coils are made for not a soul is worried about a "knee" lol...while I was there kids (30plus) where starting with springs over 10k years ago... What most agree with is that KW is the better choice for Motorsport's and the sub 2k coils are for the weekend warrior.

Good to know that you don't get a real dyno sheet for the units you actually receive. I kinda thought that was a little too good to be true. Also a lot of the opinions in that thread are just that - opinions. No sub 4-5K coilover system is going to be 100% perfect in every way from the factory, if you're going so far as to have them dyno tested and matched to your specific chassis for 100% accurate (mathematically) dampening... And most true motorsports coilover systems still have to be re-valved even after you purchase them. All that said, I think the FA's are going to be a great value at sub-2K pricing. |

I see you went with the 510s, I ordered a set of the Gen4 500s myself. With 11k front and 8k rear spring rates based on what they recommended with my planned usage. Their website was very informative and helpful with the recommendation. Looking forward to getting them installed.
