Replacing 370Z Rotors
I'm looking at replacing my brake rotors because I'm getting vibration when braking at more than 40 mph. I'm looking for budget oriented street rotors that can also be used for some light track duty that I hope will be in my future someday. I have decided on the Hawk Performance Ceramic pads for daily use (mostly because of my previous experience with them). I plan to switch over to Carbotech XP8s if I ever make it out to a track.
Regarding the Z1 brake rotors, does anyone know what blanks they use? I found a 3 year old post here that matches what their website says they use, which is BPI blanks (I have no clue who this company is). But I also found a less than year old post here on this forum where Z1 says they are Centric (I know these guys and have used their PowerSlot rotors previously with good experience). Also regarding the Z1 cross drilled and slotted rotors, can someone confirm whether the cross drilled holes are chamfered or not? The other rotors I am looking at are the EBC USR Ultimax slotted rotors. I would be interested if anyone has any negative comments on these - I have heard several positive reviews from fellow members. The only complaint I have is they are painted black but it just wears off during the bedding process It think it would be pretty cool if they stayed black. I looked at the DBA rotors (5000 for front, 4000 for rear), but they're just a tad expensive. If anyone else has a quality recommendation, I am open to it, but please keep in mind that I have looked at most of the standard options (OEM, Centric, StopTech, PowerSlot, PowerStop etc) and narrowed it down to the two I listed above. Thanks in advance

Given only your two choices, I'd go with the EBC rotors. Nothing against Z1's stuff, but EBC is in the brake business. As pointed out in another suspension thread, Z1 sells some quality stuff, but given those choices........

I think I had already made up my mind... just wanted to give Z1 a chance since they're a forum sponsor but I'll get the EBC brakes from a forum sponsor anyway.

I run the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors on two other vehicles I have with no problems.

I went with z1 slotted. My car turned into a raging sybian again after about 500 miles. These cars just have brake issues. Dump it and buy a different one, or hit your dealer up every few thousand miles. thats what I'm going back to doing.

lol for suggesting that I dump the Z. I'm sorry that you're so hard on your brakes that you're having problems. I'm pretty sure my wife is the cause of my problems with the brakes (she is pretty hard on them). I'll be fine once I replace them Also, your suggestion of going to the dealer is just asinine. They won't cover the rotors under warranty, not to mention, I'm out of my Nissan warranty anyway (maybe they will cover them very early on... but not after 30K+ miles).

I had the Z1 brake upgrade (Pads/Rotors/Fluid/SS Lines) done Feb 2012, and have over 20k mi on them since.
I have the Cross-Drilled/Slotted. The Drill holes are sunk in, if that's what you're asking about them?? If I could do it again, I would just do slotted instead of cross drilled/ slotted since I went for aesthetics rather than pure because racecar.

Something's wrong with your car. Not 370s in general

From some extensive reading:
Solid blank rotors = best heat dissipation, best for racing. Slotted rotors = reduced heat dissipation, better bite and performance in the wet. Drilled = reduced heat dissipation due to less material, faster pad wear, minimal cooling from holes, prone to cracks from excessive heat cycles, worst for racing. I simplify but it's amazing the conflicting info out there.
