EBC rotors.
 

My rotors began to pulsate, so I had them turned. 4k miles later I developed the same issue, so I just decided to go for some new rotors. After some research, I decided on the slotted EBCs. I read up on the G35 forums regarding this same exact rotor and that member's review of it was positive. In general, EBC rotors, have decent reviews.

Anyway, I installed these today. The picture doesn't look that great because I moved the car out of the garage to take it so what you see is the black coating being scraped off the rotor. The install was pretty easy and took a little over an hour for both sides(front only). I don't really plan on tracking the car, just some spirited driving here and there. So, I decided that these rotors would be adequate for the tasks that I'll throw at them.

So far, the pedal feels crisper. I can't really do any hard braking until I bed them in for the first 300-400 miles or so. I'll be sure to chime back in later to report on the progress.

Nice! I just bought mine with some "red stuff" pads from the same company. I haven't installed them yet, because I'm trying to do all my mods at once. Let us know how it fairs down the road.

I have a set on my 3/4 ton Power Wagon that I pull a 8,600 lb camper with. I'm using YellowStuff pads too. That combo has been great in the truck. :tup:

changing rotors isnt the reason why your brakes felt "crisper." Its because your rotor thickness has increased so your caliper pistons dont need to move as far requiring less brake pedal effort to achieve the same amount of braking force.

Eh, the pistons don't spring back to full compression every time you let off the brakes. They self adjust by way of not being forced back, and a check valve in the master cylinder allows new fluid to flow from the reservoir to make up the difference when the pedal is released.

So really, it's probably from the new rotors and the new formula of pad that has more bite than what he is used to.

EDIT: was someone else that changed pads, could be that the new rotors have a higher CF causing there to be more bite, especially until material transfer is more uniform. I'd expect him to say they feel the same, just not pulsey (new word), in about a thousand miles or so.

I installed EBC rotors and red stuff brake pads on May 10, 2013. Fantastic all around.

I just got mine done today. EBC Rotors, Z1 SS brake lines, and red stuff pads, along with motul 5.1 fluid. I dunno but it feels like the pedal is a lot softer. I watched them bleed the lines, so I on't know what it could be. Any ideas?

Is 5.1 the silicone based stuff? If so, it's squishier and you shouldn't be using it for a whole list of reasons. If it's not, then they're not done bleeding the brakes.

Synthetic, yes but not silicone.

I had it confused with DOT 5, which is silicone based. In that case, it's just air in the lines.

I purchased my EBC slotted rotors (also fronts only) for similar reasons. However, I didn't bother to have my OEM rotors turned first. I also purchased Hawk Performance Ceramic pads, and changed my brake fluid with ATE Super Blue. I had an impromptu track day less than a week after the install, and they performed great. The time in my own Z was limited due to my lack of an oil cooler, but the brakes gave me zero problems.

So I just have to further bleed the lines?

If the pedal's still soft, there's still air in the lines.
