OP you're only getting the flame treatment because, as you can plainly see, that mod is considered cheap garbage with no real function and can cause problems in certain situations (you may or may not be able to avoid those situations). I personally view them as a safety hazard
Mike the Powdercoater does great work and would be the best option in terms of quality, longevity, and you're helping out the forum and a great sponsor

I do..I just haven't ever taken them apart or anything. As far as I knew they could have been a cover over the upgraded brakes
