How to test ABS Sensor?

Does anyone know how our abs sensors work? From what I found in the service manual it is a hall effect sensor that puts out a digital signal in the form of a square wave. Simple enough, however out ABS sensors only have 2 wires and every hall effect sensor I come across has 3, which is confusing. Has anyone ever succeeded in getting them tested without a scanner (up-rev doesnt support the ABS computer :/)

I think you will need a scanner. Consult supports ABS testing as well as several of the Snap On dianostic platforms, like Verus. It sucks that that Uprev doesn't support it as I broke one of my ABS sensors during my brake duct install and I had to get a Verus from a mechanic friend to figure out what was wrong.
