Uneven rear tire wear
 

Hi,

My rear stock tires (Sport Package OEM tires) are showing more wear on the outsides on both rims. I even installed rear wheel spacers (15mm) and the wear is still on the outside and there is more negative camber now due to the modification!

Is my toe out of spec? Too much toe in or toe out? Never have aligned it and it's a 2011.

This is actually the answer to your question, a good alignment would fix the problem.
Besides if you say your camber is more negative now the wear should be at the inside of the tire not outside, which indicate your camber is leaning towards the positive.
Take it for an alignment, cheaper to do than buy 2 new rear tires. My 2 cents

Or the INSIDES?


Our cars come with a lot of negative camber, so the INSIDES should be showing wear
Go to Firestone, lifetime alignment (you can haggle for $20-40 off, then go in every other oil change)

I have more wear on the OUTSIDE of the tire (opposite of what should be happening). It's puzzling to me because I have installed 15mm rear wheel spacers so that should add more negative camber and it certainly looks like there is more negative camber. The toe must be the issue.

outside wear is too much toe out. More negative camber with toe out will chew em up real quick. I get my car aligned every 6-9 months. I'm actually coming up on time for another alignment. I'll need another one anyways since I'm installing my coilovers tomorrow.

I have the same problem, getting new tires installed within the week and an alignment, I have assumed its my toe as well

So i get this is a very very old thread, but it thought i would ask the question again cause i'm not 100% sure how my tires are supposed to wear.

I looked at my rear tires on my 2009 370z Sport today... there is noticeably MORE wear on the outside of the tiers, that being the side closest to the rim. I haven't tracked the car and i don't drive too crazy. These are original tires and have about 22000km on them.

Is what I'm seeing normal?

this is absolutely not normal. should've worn out around 16000km... :ugh2:

get them swapped with new tires.

Strange,mine wear the inside edge,most likely due to the standard Neg[-] camber.

yah, agree on outside wear being irregular, but dont agree it should last that long anyway.

I'm getting what looks like more wear on the outside. Not 100% sure though. It looks like the outer most groove may be a little shallower than the rest by one or two millimeters. It'll look like the old Yokohama A008 by the time I'm done with it. I figured it might be suspension flex while cornering. 23k miles so far and hope to make it through the summer before putting some RE-11s on. I'm not complaining, the tires are lasting about twice as long as I thought they would. Mostly highway miles.

Spacers won't change your alignment spec. What is your rear set at as far as camber and toe? This sounds like not enough camber.

Mine is all stock, 2011 Sportsd Pack, 5,000 miles. All four are wearing out more on the outside than the inside, what the hell should I do? Take it to the dealer and tell them to re-alignment?

I also have more wear in the outside, so "normal" seems to be a f'ked up factory setting.

My stock tires only lasted 10k miles :( and that's with an alignment at about 3k miles.

You've got too much toe in as everyone has said. You can get an alignment for about $60 do eet
