SPL Pro End Links
 

Well I finally got my SPL end links installed today. It was a very simple task, only took about 2 hours by myself. The instructions that come with them are for a 350Z, and not the 370Z. I called and spoke with Sean at SPL about the torque called out in the included instructions. The values were significantly lower than what is called out in the Service Manual I have for my 2012. He checked and told me that the higher torques were alright, and the new end links would handle them, so I torqued them to the values called out in the Service Manual. The only problem I had was getting the front long bolt to slide into the upper location, as the shock was not cooperating. After a little finesse, it finally slid in, and was torqued. The lower end was not installed until I did the other side upper as it was not fun trying to get the OEM end link out with the lower end still connected. Pull the lower end out first, then the upper. Install in the reverse. After the uppers are torqued, you can install the lower ends very easily, and adjust as you feel necessary. Pictures are still in the camera, I'll get them up later.

you guys are worried about braking the stock one or look for a flatter stance in the corners? on subarus they need to be replaced because stock one brakes after the stiffer antiroll bar

I have the Hotchkis Sway bars front and rear, and just thought something a little beefier might be good. I do a few track days, and didn't want to take any chances. I've attached a couple pictures, sorry the rear is a little blurry. The first pic is the OEM and SPL rear links side by side. The fronts are comparable. I didn't have a lot of time, as I was using my friends lift, and he had to leave on a trip and didn't want me hanging around setting off his alarm or some such nonsense.

bumping an old thread so please forgive me :confused:, but do they offer ANY (handling) benefit over stock ones? I have Eibach front sway on full stiff. Though some say that I "will" wear out my oem end links but I know someone who drove 3 seasons of Autox (2 drivers too) on Hoosier A6 and front sway bar oem endlinks never broke. so I guess the question I'm asking:

a. Are they legal for (Bstreet) Street Autox class? I see FRS/BRZ guys using it with their street class cars. I'm guessing yes?

b. Do they offer any handling benefit over oem ones when paired with an aftermarket sway?

With the adjustable endlinks. If you know what you're doing. You can preload the bars for different types of tracks. Lengthen one side and shorten the other to dial in the car.

The main benefit is the additional strength, and the ability to adjust them when corner balancing the car.

While balancing you unhook the sways, then once balanced, you adjust each endlink appropriately.

has anyone here had their SPL links go bad?

I was getting clunking noises and assumed that the bolts were not tight enough. But even after tightening them, the noise was still there only on the right side.

I put the car on a lift and it turns out that the right link had significant free-play in the upper ball joint. As I grab on the sway bar on that side and moved it up and down, I can see and feel the free-play in the ball joint.

Will contact SPL and see what they say. Hopefully they'll replace it for me.
