Doing a pad and rotor job on 50k non sport. Do I need to bleed brakes? Is it necessary or reccomended?

I would do a bleed even if u just change the pads. Better safe than sorry.

You really should be flushing, not just bleeding, the brakes at the very least every two years regardless of how hard you drive the car. Brake fluid absorbs water over time from the atmosphere and loses its ability to do its job, as well as causing corrosion inside your brake system.
Ideally you should do a complete brake flush once every year (hey, it's like $20 tops if you do it yourself), every six months if you're going to the track. |

Agreed with the above. I don't drive much (<6Kmiles/yr), so aiming at the 2 yr flush cycle.
At 50K, it should of been done several times IMO. I use the power bleeder from motive (Motive Products #1 Selling DIY Brake Bleeder). Makes the job a simple one person operation. Make sure to use a DOT4 fluid, not DOT3. Also, this would be a good time to bleed/flush the clutch too.
