Akuma Motorsorts Harness Bar

Yes, Were back engineering another product for your 370z

As far as harness bars goes not too many people out there on the market that make one for the 370z. So we figured it'd be fun to make our own :excited:.
Heres how its been going so far

Your bar is about a 18" from the shocks towers so IMO you shouldn't call it that. As you can see in your pictures the shocks are already braced from below and the factory brace bar that you are replacing is basically just for looks. I think you would have better response if you lable your part as a harness bar as that is what others are calling this modification.

martin82 08-03-2012 01:34 PM

Kevin, you might as well turn that into a harness bar for racing harness.......

CrownR426 08-03-2012 01:57 PM

Does the shop have it's own 370Z? Or is that a customer's car?

Kevin@AkumaMS 08-03-2012 01:57 PM

That would be Johns 370z

B&W_Evader 08-03-2012 02:59 PM

I like "Harness Bar" too. Need to add some eyelets to bolt harness to.

Would be cool to match exterior or interior car color rather than have it some additional color inside the vehicle. I personally wouldn't want a big purple bar in the back of my Z. Might end up looking like some big falic symbol. :happydance:

MJB 08-03-2012 03:33 PM

Awesome, I'm assuming this is heavier than the stock bar? Can we get an guestimate of the price and release date? Are we going to be able to choose the color we want?

CrownR426 08-03-2012 09:23 PM

Did not hear good things over on the subbie forums about A.M. just sayin!

cdoxp800 08-03-2012 10:01 PM

I am about to make one of these myself. So how much you going to sale these for?

Trips 08-03-2012 10:10 PM

Kevin you do have abilty to change the title of this Thread to reflect that you are speaking of a Harness Bar.

If you want me to change it? just let me know

Work looks good

370Z JT 08-04-2012 03:05 AM

Can you make it in Ti and sell it for a fraction of the price of other JDM brands.

Kevin@AkumaMS 08-04-2012 07:44 AM

This is just a prototype for you guys to see and if there is enough interest we may make some for production. We dont have a price yet but we will always be very competitive with other companies.

Photos Updated!

martin82 08-04-2012 11:40 AM

damn looks great....

Huckleberry 08-04-2012 11:47 AM

any photos with the interior intact?

Srenity 08-04-2012 12:11 PM

If you intend to produce these please add harness mounting hoops to it. Robi Spec produced a very similiar bar and a group buy is going on right now but there is no harness hoops so the harness is looped all the way around the bar. I think it looks bad and allows for the harness to slide around.

I will have photos of it installed with full interior on tuesday, And the loops are certainly a great idea we will keep that in mind

Those back seats look like a high-tech ride at Disney with the bar going across!

Maybe you're thinking of someone else? I've known quite a few people who've done business with them (myself included) -- they have a pretty solid reputation.

Also, seconding (thirding?) the hoops.

What impact does this have on the structural integredy of the car? This looks cool, and I'm assuming this stiffens up the ride, but how does it impact the rest of the car? What was the OEM bar designed for?

VDC_OFF 08-07-2012 09:40 AM

looks pretty cool and good idea Srenity. Just curious, why couldnt we use the stock bar that comes with the z, is that not secure?

:icon18: agreed. I've even seen some have it wrapped with CF. I thought I heard on the forum (take it with a grain of salt) that this bar is designed for Crumple zones?

It's basically for looks and some basic structural rigidity simply because there's a bar there. But it's not the best thing you could have there. OEM bar was just space filler.

The stock bar isn't strong enough for a support to harness'.

takjak2 08-10-2012 09:23 AM

Looks like a direct copy of the Robispec bar that just went into production. Maybe a little less beefy. But I'm just happy when anyone makes parts.

Well if thats the case then I need to buy one, about to get seats next. Would be really awesome if it was carbon wrapped like carbon signal/element does.

Yes you will need to get one, glad to see a few companies working on this now.
I am sure you could have one wrapped easily, but my concern would be that with a harness it will scratch it and loose that nice look where as paint or powder coating will hold up better probably.

You're right, screw that idea. How about different color options other than the purple? I cant see my car rocking that color :) I would probably do a Takata green or just leave it silver to match the interior accents.

The green would go nicely with your drift wheels.

Hellz ya it would!!!

MJB 11-18-2012 08:05 PM

Did these ever hit the market? I was sorta interested in one...

Kevin@AkumaMS 11-20-2012 08:16 AM

We decided to not produce these as of now due to safety and were not sure how it will hold in some serious track conditions. I will be sure to let you guys if we do decide to go threw with manufacturing some of these harness bars.

This was what concerned me. I wanted one of these, but I'm just not sure how much stress the mounting location of the bar was designed to take. It would be a bad day if the entire bar detached in an accident.

VDC_OFF 11-20-2012 09:04 AM

Thats too bad... Was looking into getting one too. Just install one and throw it off a cliff :P So how does one test these things anyways? I guess getting a cage is the only safe way?

GaleForce 11-20-2012 10:51 AM

Someone needs to build a bolt in cage.
