Traction Control Anti Slip ISSUE

So a while back I had an accident and the damage was on the front passenger wheel. The ENTIRE wheel hub, spindle, rotor, caliper, brake line, abs, wheel was snapped off the car. Well since then the car has been repaired and just had an alignment done on the car with my new set of 20's. So my issue, the light is still ON and the VDC button wont respond but light remains on as well. Any way to fix this issue?

HOpefully that gives you enough about the topic.

The same thing happened when I had my last accident in my car. I drove over a tire shred on a highway ramp (in the rain), slid onto the grass, and then bumped the guard rail. The slip light and the VDC light stayed on after it happened, but they went away after I turned the car off and started it back up again.

I was hoping it would go away but unfortunately it hasnt. Since I had to replace the entire wheel assembly on the front passenger I wasnt sure if something was missing like a sensor. Also find it weird the traction light is on as I figured the rear would be the one to affect the light

Maybe you could try disconnecting the battery to clear them?

Carbon_z 07-24-2012 01:18 PM

oh its been disconnected several times and replaced. Is there a traction/antiskid sensor in the front passenger wheel?

I bought a AbS sensor off ebay, do I need to program it or anything? thats the only sensor I am aware of.

This will happen if the controller isn't getting a signal from all the wheel speed sensors. So are you seeing the "VDC Off" and the slip light and the ABS light? Or just the VDC off light by itself?

you need to take it to a dealer and have them hook the consult machine up to it to see what the problem is. I recommend SUtherlin. Mine was a piece of track rubber in between the hub and the sensor

The abs light is not on... Just the vdc light and the Losing traction icon light is on. Which hub would have the sensors the ones on the back? Because the front passenger is completely new but never bought a sensor other than abs. The rest of them have had new struts, springs, rotors and pads installed so I would think setting stuck would have been seen.

anybody have a picture of the speed sensor? Also do all the wheels have the speed sensor? I thought the only wires i saw were related to the ABS, which isnt on.

It's the same sensor for both. All 4 wheels have the wheel speed sensor which is used for ABS and traction control.

I replaced the ABS sensor for the FRONT PASSENGER wheel. Since it was not the same sensor that came on the car should I have to program it or anything??? The ABS light was on previously and since the sensor was installed the ABS light went off but the 2 others remain.

No programming is required. I would check the controller that is under the plastic cover near the e-brake and make sure that it has power.

May not be related but are you low on brake fluid?......

Carbon_z 07-26-2012 08:15 PM

Brake fluid has been replaced even new brakes. The whole car went through an overhaul. But what I'm trying to understand is what the speed sensor looks like. Anybody have a picture of it on the front passenger wheel? I would love for ever Eva. :)

Don't have a camera handy but I just had mine off for a repair.

The wheel speed sensor is a black cable with red stripe, it connects to the steering knuckle/spindle and magnetic pick up portion penetrates partially through a small hole. The hole is on the opposite side to the brake caliper. The cable runs up the spindle and back to a connector that is behind the plastic splash shield.

I would think that the wheel speed sensors are working correctly though if your ABS light went out.

Double check your brake fluid level, wheee! is correct that if the level is anything other than max it can trigger this condition, although I think the e-brake light comes on as well if I recall correctly.
