Questions on Tein basic coilovers

So im gonna be lowering the car. I found these Tein basic coilovers here:

So my questions: 1 Does anyone have these coilovers or have an opinion on them?
2 Can someone post a picture of a 370z with a 2.5" drop all the way around?
3 If it's lowered by this much (2.5") will i run into any problems?

I can only address #3... you will need an adjustable camber/toe kit or you will rip through tires and your handling will suck. Also at that much of a drop you will get a much harsher/firmer ride than stock. Typically the bigger the drop, the greater your need for higher end coils that allow for more adjustability.

Hey thanks for responding but are you saying that for a 2.5" drop these coils arent the right choice?

Well the larger the drop, the more harsh the car will react (all things equal). Higher end coilovers like the Monoflex and KW have more adjustability and better dampering. You might be ok (I am probably around 2.5 on KWs which are in the same price range) if you don't mind a firm ride. They will work, just a question as to if you feel they are comfortable enough.

If you are going to spend 1k retail though, you might want to wait and hold out for a used set of KWs which typically can go for 1,200-1,300 and are raved about.

I was looking and reading around about "budget coils". I would spend the extra cash and get better coils rather than go budget. Especially with car parts, you get what you pay for. I am going KW due to what I have been reading. Mainly, because, I am not going for "stance" or "flex" I plan on tracking (lightly) and DD-ing. Besides, why not spend the extra cash on a quality product with more than excellent quality control. Also (fun fact) KW make suspension stuff for high end german cars so they have that legacy to protect as well.

Having the KWs for 3 years and actually removing them for something lower price ( supposedly "lower quality"), I think the KWs are overkill for street/occasional track use. That's what I'm doing with my Z as well.

The KWs have a lot of adjustability, yes. However, you perform these adjustments at both the top (dampening) and bottom (compression) of the coils. The top is easy, the bottom, you gotta remove the wheel, adjust, drive around, decide, re-remove the wheel, adjust, ect. It's a bit of a hassle for a DD.

- If you have a garage with a lift, ok maybe its not that big of a deal, but assuming most do not, it's a bit much for a non track dedicated car.

Worm run Tein, I run there springs on my Z ran their coil overs on my 240 lasted 10 years never had an issue. My 240 ran track, time attack, drift, and was my daily. The basis doesn't have any adjustability for dapening or rebound, save your money and get a set that has adjustability especially if you want to be lowered that far.

Have them breaking in for a week now, then I'll start working with the adjustability.

well being that this thread is 3 years old, im hoping you guys still have 370z's. Well anyway, this is the only forum I can find about TEIN coilovers and was wondering if any of you were running them. If so how were they?

instead of buying some half-arsed coilover set, get some swifts and koni's.

or at least get the better TEINs they have.

yeah I was looking at the swift koni combo as well. I just saw the price was so low and was wondering the quality. The website I saw them on made it looked discounted.

TEIN's are good if you get their higher end models. make sure the spring rates are wat you want though.

Would anything be comparable to KW V1? I just want height adjustment on a good shock. I don't think I need to be messing with compression and rebound, etc. driving to school and work. Car is DD, so being realistic I'm not going to be fiddling with my suspension much after install. Any other trusted brands that have something similar to what KW V1 offers?
