Dropping on Swifts, help!
 

So I'm about to drop my car on swifts with H&R15mm/20mm spacers. I want to make sure I get back into alignment properly.

To keep this thread short and sweet...Should I get the rear camber arms? Or will I be just fine using the bolt kit instead...

Depends how in spec you want your alignment. You will not know under ~2 weeks of driving on them as you need time for them to settle. I would not buy a camber kit until you wait the 2 weeks and get an aligmnent (to see if you even need a camber kit), as you might not even need a camber kit at all. I didn't. (some don't need one, and others do. Every car is different) But if you do stay in spec, it will definately be in the outter range of in spec. So a camber kit will not hurt.

Even if they're used they need to settle? Excuse my ignorance.. I've never lowered a car before.

Yes even if used. The reason is the springs need to get seated well with the shock on the car. And if you need the camber kit, you will need the front arms and rear rod as well. The complete camber kit is like $700+ for parts alone. (front kit is expensive)

That's why if you can get away with it being in spec/barley in spec, you might want to just not bother. Or atleast get the rear camber kit.

nick- you mentioned your springs are used. chances are they are already broken in so you will only have to do the preload/tighten..maybe drive the car around the block for your mounts to settle real good.

then get your alignment.

I think to be safe I'm going to just buy the rear camber arms to make sure I can get into spec.

This is the exact setup I've been considering, but I decided to put it of indefinitely. If I go through with it I need to have extra money just in case I need a camber kit. The last thing I need is to be chewing up tires at an accelerated pace..If I just got as close to spec as possible without a camber kit, how bad would the wear on the tires be?

It won't be that bad, but it also depends on how much you drive your car. Mine is at -1.4 fronts and -1.9 rears and the wear is perfectly fine, got 25K on the car right now. :)

They won't.

I have the same H&R/Swift setup and have 305's on the rear.... my camber is -2.8 and in need of camber arms to prevent premature wear of the tires...

This pic is while the car was on jackstands but the dust shows the camber position pretty good....

Nick you def should do the arms... its not an expensive part and really can only do good and no harm. Wearing out your tires due to camber wear would cost you more in the long run anyway.
