Keep in mind this was in my previous G35 with Porterfield R4 pads. It’s amazing the abuse I put my G35 brakes through and never once boiled my fluid or experienced “ice mode”. And I was only running ATE Super Blue.

Sad to say, the 370Z’s ABS system is a regression compared the G35’s.

Carbotech XP8s here (DD)

Have about 900 miles on them. Still not a squeek yet. When cold, bite is about equal to OEM, much more bite than OEM when warm, way more dust, about 5x OEM.

Running the same and not so lucky with the stock rotors. I warped them with stock pads at the track. Turned the rotors, but still they vibrate the steering wheel under braking.

So I need new rotors too, pronto. What was the verdict on what to get for daily driving and 6 track events per year? My next event is June 17th at Laguna Seca.

I have the B-specs -- I like them. A bit squeally occasionally when cold, otherwise much better bite than OEM and low dust.

Also, if you haven't already done it, I highly recommend getting SS brake lines. That makes a really noticeable difference in braking performance.

Does more dust equates to better brake performance? How are the hawks pads for occasional track and more street?

OEM rotors or any blanks from a big bob store, get them cryo treated and you are all set. Waste of $500 to buy the fancy ones

Update on the Carbotech XP8s

Up to about 3k miles and got my first squeeks out of them. Had them up in the mountains last night. Had to have the stereo off hear them but it was a high pitch noise like you would have on a hearing test. Got them nice and hot on the way down and the squeeled a little louder, even at 35-20mph range, harder I pressed the louder they got. Definitely not what I expected. Figured it would go go away at higher pedal force and higher speed. Still not that loud and the stereo would of made it difficult to hear. Anyway... not a peep out of them under normal driving after the curves were done and none on the way to work. Don't get me wrong, still love them. They're just living up to their warning about using them as street pads. Will try sanding the pads and rotors down a little and rebedding when I get around to it. No hurry, it's not an annoyance yet.

Using Motul, I would flush before each event if it's more than a month or two appart. I did this when I was tracking my Vette. Brake flush, distributor cap rotor and points before each event. Had a friend miss a whole day becuase the points on his Elan went bad. (no need to worry about points on this car though)

I'd let the brake fluid go a year if I was using the Castrol SRF (best wet boil performance) Try to change it after the wet season is over.

I actually use the Project Mu Type NS pads. They are pretty low dust for the DD aspect. As far as performance goes they are pretty darn good. I drive pretty hard on a daily basis and these have not failed me yet. I was down at ZDAYZ ripping around on the Dragon and other various roads pushing it very hard and had no brake fade. If you are gonna be tracking you may wanna look into the B Spec for slightly added performance.
