I know the disks on my motorcycle aren't vented (ie, solid, thick pieces of metal), and, they are stainless steel. The thickness of the braking surface is more than I've seen on vented rotors, and with it being solid, there's little potential that they'd crack or build up enough heat...when you consider the weight of the bike....

Maybe that has something to do with it.

Light weight, two piece rotors for the front and rear sport brakes (Akebono) are now currently available :) ........... http://www.the370z.com/brakes-suspen...brake-kit.html

^^^ Hahaha, really?? Ya don't say? :p (see the post just above yours)

Thanks for the plug, but it is Relentless AUTOSPORTS, not motorsports. ;) ... and that price was a group buy price... Its just bit higher than that for all four of our, light weight, two piece, full floating rotors now.

So is no one a fan of the DBA Brand? Have there been bad experiences with them?

BGTV8 01-14-2011 03:38 PM

I have used DBA on my Z34 for 18 mnths ... a dozen track days and still going strong.

Part no DBA 52314SL and 52314SR for slotted right and left respectively for Akebono calipers

DBA is an EXCELLENT brand. One of the only ones that owns their own foundry. Hard to beat for daily driving and aggressive use. They often last 2-3 times longer than the regular stuff.

Scott @ RA 01-18-2011 02:59 AM

I would have to agree that compared to most any of the aftermarket rotors, DBA is amongst the best in the industry. I have used them quite a bit and have always liked them

Having said that... In case anyone was wondering...;) ..We at Relentless Autosports are STILL the only company in the world to make and offer a set of both FRONT & REAR (all four) 2 piece, light weight rotors for this Akebono brake kit. Our rotors also have features like rotational as well as directional pillar vained, gas vented, stress relieved, and heat treated for longer life. We offer our light weight two piece rotors in either a true full floating design, as well as a fix mounted unit. Not to mention ALL the rotors are made and manufactured right here in the USA.

Thanks, you were close..... but actually more like 11 pounds off each front and almost 4 off of each rear with our light weight two piece rotors. LOL
(Hey, every pound counts) :tiphat:

That is a lot of coin. You can almost buy a complete front BBK for that kind of money.
