Carbotech Weight Recommendations

I know there is alot of Carbotech love here ... but I am curious about the recommended weight for the XP-8. From the Carbotech site for the XP-8 it says:

Default Carbotech Weight Recommendations

I know there is alot of Carbotech love here ... but I am curious about the recommended weight for the XP-8. From the Carbotech site for the XP-8 it says: "Excellent as a front brake pad for lighter applications weighing around 2,400lbs or less."

...so, does this mean 2,400 for the front half of the car, or do they mean the whole car ?

For XP-10 the suggested weight is 2,900 pounds or less.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you want you can call 'em up and they can recommend pads for what you want to do with them.

I run XP10 up front with XP8s in the rear and Bobats/1521s for street pads. So far the 10/8 combination has lasted me about a year per set with 6-8 track days/year.

Cool deal ... I was just wondering if they measured it by axle, so by saying 2400 pounds for the front they meant just for the front of the car; or hypothetically 4,800 pounds for both front and rear. On the other hand, if they mean 2,400 for the whole car, then I would say the 370Z is kind of being extra hard on them because the car is heavier.

My guess is that those weights are whole car and for race applications. Likely that it's less applicable to HPDE/TT type driving.

Cool...tons of guys running them without issues so I would be alright with them. I also only go around at pace car/safety vehicle speeds .... I am still torn on XP-8's all around or trying out the EBC Blue NDX ... maybe I will flip a coin tonight and be done with it.

One of these days I'm going to give another type/brand of pads a try.. I'm just lazy and the carbotechs have felt so good to me.

I never used EBC blue, but this article states how bad they are compare to other options

Great link thanks for sharing ! I think those are the old Blue Stuff pads and compound ... the new Blue Stuff is NDX made more for tracking and less so for endurance. so not sure if that would have had any impact on the results they chronicled.
