Default AP racing clearance

This may be a stupid question but will the ap racing 6pots clear the nismo wheels? Search keeps timing out on me (slow internet, outside the US). I would imagine they would but before I spend the money on nismo wheels and these brakes i want to make sure they fit.

They will clear the sport wheels and the Nismo wheels, they should even clear the base 18" wheels (although those might need a spacer, I will check tonight).

I wont have them till the end of the year at the earliest. I am out of the country for the rest of the summer but I will have them as soon as I can. It will be a plus if they clear the base wheels. I want to keep them for winter tires.

Kyle@STILLEN, do you know if they will clear the base 18's? I want to have a 2nd set of wheels with all seasons for the winter.

The base 18's are the only ones I have not tried. If you already have the wheels you can always just drop in our template and see if they clear:

http://www.stillen.com/product_files/AP5700~profile.pdf

Make sure it prints 1:1 sometimes computers/printers will adjust it. Then just cut it out and drop it inside the wheel and take a look. I usually recommend gluing it to a piece of cardboard or heavy card stock just to give it a little extra rigidity but it's not necessary.

...I saw the title of this and a Stillen response...got excited and clicked thinking you were blowing out AP Racing BBK Kits...

OP: I would be interested in how this works out for you.

I was going to do the test fit last night but decided to chop off the end of my thumb instead (really it was an accident).

I will have to make the test fit tonight because I do plan on using those base 18's, injured thumb or not.

I am just going to stick with my stock 18 rims ... I know the Wilwood 14" won't fit but the 13" will ... not sure about the AP Racing. The Wilwood is my wishful thinking brake upgrade, but AP Racing is right up there if I hit the lottery.

The AP's do happen to be on a bit of a sale right now, but yeah, they're never going to be dirt cheap.

I've been less than impressed by the flex I've seen in some of the Wilwood calipers on certain platforms, not sure about the 370Z application.

A cheap upgrade would be if you could get someone's sport package take off's. The Akebono's aren't the greatest but a good upgrade over the base.

The good news is the base 18's clear. Placement of the balancing weights will be critical however to avoid contacting the caliper. Putting them on the front lip will probably work best.

It's a bit sore, but I'm keeping it wrapped and clean so it should heal well and hopefully give me no problems driving. Thanks for asking.

The other option if you don't want to move the weights would be a 15mm spacer, but unfortunately that is illegal in my class (only allowed < 6mm). The low profile weights do just fit in the gap between the wheel and the caliper but I would be afraid that they would get ripped off if a corner started to lift a little with the heat.
