Dangerously close. Can I get a drop (pics)

This is my driveway. I realllllyyy want to get lowered especially since I just ordered aftermarket wheels. If I can't get lowered then I will cancel the wheel order because I think I will look ridiculous with rims and no drop.

Hate my driveway. This is what I drive up every day

You can see the scrapes from times where I did not go up at a perfect angle. If I go up perfectly I can make it right now. If I go at any other angle I scrape.

What should I do??

Drop it and park on the street?

You're driveway doesn't look bad at all. Just drop it and take at it more of an angle.

If you already scrape at stock height, pretty sure you would with a drop.

grab some 2x4 and see if that helps.

I am at the entrance of my subdivision so there are cars driving by all day long. No way I'm leaving my car on the street.

IDK if I can even go at a wider angle without running out of driveway:ughdance:

I'm sure that would help but the idea of getting out of my car and setting up a ramp every time i need to leave the driveway is not very appealing

corbin09 04-06-2012 09:23 AM

I would lower it...

Different angle+strategic reversing= Win

cheshirecat 04-06-2012 09:36 AM

Some swifts would be fine. Just take it at an angle like you've been doing.

babbagandu 04-06-2012 09:37 AM

Do you guys think this would help me at all?

You say your car will look ridiculous with the aftermarket rims and no drop. Is the gap going to be worse or is there some other factor since stock Nismo rims look fine without a drop. I dont think rims with somewhat similar specs are going to look any different without a drop. Being lowered is nice but not a life threatening requirement.

Yeah the wheel specs are the same. It's just that I freaking hate the wheel gap right now. If I get rims it will just attract more attention to the hideous wheel gap

you should come see my driveway man :p

from the images it looks like the area where the driveway meets the road isnt 100% level, try going past, u-turn and coming in from the other direction.

I go up both ways regularly. There is not much difference going up in either direction.

I am really wondering if that ramp I linked a couple posts above could solve my problem. I am thinking it would let me go up at an even more extreme angle, without my rear wheel coming off the ground as shown above. Maybe that would let me maneuver up without scraping

daisuke149 04-06-2012 10:38 AM

if anything that ramp would help you go up straight onto the driveway. but otherwise doesnt seem likt it would help much. you can "test" it by adding some 2x4's in the depression and see if that helps

Yeah I will probably give that a try and re-measure going up. Man, this car hobby is so stressful
