Swift Springs
Question for all you Z owners. I had swift springs installed about 4 months ago and I'm finding that the ride height is just too low. My front lip that I had molded to the front bumper always seems to "flex" coming out of drive ways, etc. I've had it repainted twice already and am finding it to be just a little bit of a hassle. I love the look of it being lowered but would like to know if there is: a) a different set of springs that would not be as pronounced (lowered) or can I get a set of coil overs and adjust the height that way.
I appreciate any and all advise, thanks to many of you my mods have been right on point! |
Don't the swifts only lower the car about an 1.2"? Most, if not all, springs are in that ballpark for the front. Tanabe's are .8", HR's are 1.3", Megan's are 1.5", Eibach's are .9" and Tein's are .87." You might just have to get coil overs unless those Tein's will cut it.

I think you would be happy with the tanabe, eibachs or teins.

We have monster curbs here in Colorado, have to go pretty diagonal coming in and out of my driveway, not including a severe incline of a driveway after the sidewalk. But it only scrapes the plastic sport package aero thing.
I was thinking about a nice lip for later, but I just don't see it possible with my curbs and angled driveway. Sounds like you have something similar. You can see the curb in the background of the first pic: http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/7...0325180513.jpg And how high I am from taking a picture from the top of the short driveway: http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/7...0325181410.jpg |
We have the same curbs here in WA, I had to get Bridjit curb ramps as I was craping every time I came in and out of my driveway.

Just go back to stock. It's kind of pointless to buy coilovers to lower a car half an inch. I scrape the front chin spoiler all the time with the stock setup, so I can imagine another inch of drop is going to be a guarantee. You can't have the lowered look without actually lowering the car. Body kits can come close, but the wheel/fender gap isn't going to look right. The most effective solution would be finding a way to adjust the height on the fly with something like an air bag suspension kit.

This may be a cheaper option than getting Coilovers! I hardly ever scrape driving around town, I just have to avoid really steep driveways and curbs, but that's never been a big problem. |
Awesome, could you post or pm me a link to the website for the curb saver thing?

Thanks for all the advise/info. I love the look of the car, but the "molded" on lip will "flex" everything I go up or down a driveway, etc. This "flexing" causes the font lip to develop "cracks" which in turn brings me back to the body shop for some more bondo and paint!!!! ARGH! I think the adjustable route would be the best way to go. I currently track the car and would love to be able to keep the lowered ride height, but then adjust for "normal" street driving.
