Rear Camber/Toe Adjustment Arms
Ok, so I am having my Swifts/Koni's installed soon, and am probably going to install some rear camber arms prior to doing so, just looking at options.
From what I am reading here, and on the SPC site, with the SPC (or any other brand) camber arms, you will still need toe bolts or their toe arms. They say not to use the toe bolts for high performance driving, but then in the description of the SPL toe arms, it seems it is only for those who have true coilovers in the rear.. Is there no good solution for toe adjustment for those of us not running true coilovers in the rear, but still wanting something high quality/performance? I wonder why they say not to use toe bolts for high performance driving?

From the description on CZP:
The SPC rear eccentric toe bolts offer +/- 3 deg of toe adjustment (an additional +/- 1 deg from the stock eccentric bolt), and will allow most mildly lowered cars to be adjusted to specs when used in conjunction with our rear camber arms. Requires widening the eccentric hole on the subframe (cutting template included). Not recommended for high performance use because eccentric bolts are prone to slipping. So basically they are saying, if you want to do high performance driving, buy true coilovers, then buy our toe arms? Lol, there has to be another option. |

well since the stock one has +/- 1 degree, i think that should be enough for swifts+konis

I agree, the adjustment range on the stock one seems fine, but I'm assuming the stock one is the same type of bolt that is apparently prone to slipping? I wonder if anyone has had this happen to them?

I dunno why SPC would say that, then not offer Toe arms? SPL only has Toe arms if I'm correct?
I have Coils and SPC rear camber/toe kit and have had no problems as of yet. I understand they have the chance to slip, but they say the same thing about their Front arms. Interesting... Will have to look into this more.

has anyone had their camber arms slip out of alignment after a crazy turn?

I have the SPC rear arm and bolt kit...never have slipped with aggressive driving and turning. That kit was actually recommended by Stillen (I bought from them).

I have swifts on stock shocks and didn't even have to use any toe bolts. I have spl camber arms but that's it. I'm gonna say the stock eccentric bolts would slip just as much as the spc bolts. I wouldn't really worry about it too much.

concentrics do slip if they are responsible for camber, like on a corvette.... but with the Z's dedicated camber arm and a plate, I don't know how much force is placed on the rear arm.
FYI, with the KWs, I put a lock out plate on the SPL camber arm and used the OEM concentric bolt for toe... I can't get all of the toe out of it as it sits. some vendor needs to just stamp out a bunch of set of plates with different offsets.

Just curious on your KWs, how agressive did you drop with them ? I am guessing as little as possible ? Seems odd that toe would be an issue.

I don't have camber arms in the front yet and am headed to the track this weekend. So I lowered it as much as I could (but still within KW spec) with out getting silly. Still only could get to 2.2*. The back is maybe 1/4" higher than the front. Concentrics are turned in as far as they go and I still have about 3/8" toe in. Gonna play with it more tomorrow. See if pulling the traction arms in messes with geometry too much. Maybe take out a little camber if it helps. At 1.2* now.

Oh btw, if you get camber arms I would highly recommend getting lock out washers for the camber eccentric bolt. That way you can rule out the bolt messing up your alignment later. SPL makes some that are rather expensive for a bolt and 2 square washers, but they are nice looking and fit like a glove.

Many of our customers are pretty happy with the SPL rear camber arms and toe bolt setup, but a lot of our customers that track A LOT get the eccentric lockout kit. with adjustable arms.
