looking to buyset of nismo springs. how will they match my non-sportstruts? idc if the struts wear out faster i will just get the nismo struts when they do. since

nismo springs with base struts?
looking to buyset of nismo springs. how will they match my non-sportstruts? idc if the struts wear out faster i will just get

should be fine. The springs are harsh though, so they will wear the struts out faster.
I have Swift Spec R on my Sport struts and these are rated higher than Nismos.

Not sure how stiffer springs would wear out a strut. Seems like it would prevent it from actuating as much. As a result, I would think they would last longer with less displacement and slower movement on the sliding components. I could see it affecting other areas that will see hgher g loading as a result of the modificaiton like wheel bearings and ball joints. Haven't done any research on it, just thinking...
The real issue will be increasing the natural frequency of the suspension without increasing the dampening factor. You may find your car more bumpy since you may become under-damped. This could wear out a strut quicker since this would increase the amount of total movement. It'd also be bad for handling and ride comfort. Last edited by B&W_Evader; 03-16-2012 at 11:26 AM. |

maybe not so with the Nismo springs since they are not lowering springs.

^ so your running swifts w/ OEM sturts. and are close to the OEM alignment specs? and handling is improved?
I'd go with Swifts only if they match the OEM struts in terms of dampening, and the suspension geometry and harmonics are not negatively effected. yep no problems at all, and Swift said they designed them to work with regular struts. No issues at all. My alignment is within spec, but barely. Running -1.9 rear and -1.4 fronts. Alot of Swift owners have said they did not need camber kits, but some had to have them. Each car is different so there is no way to know if you will need them until you try.

I would think so but I really haven't researched this area yet. I'm probably going to be sticking with the stock springs and dampeners on mine unless there's something I really don't like once I put swaybars on it. I must be turning into an old fart since I usually lower my cars but I'm thinking I don't want to do it on this one. |
