Stoptech brake rotors
Got my Stoptech front slotted rotors today. You can really appreciate just how damn big the rotors on our cars are once you are holding them in your hands ... just massive. The Stoptech rotors are crazy heavy @ 29 pounds, I've got to imagine that the stock ones weight about the same. Looks like 2-piece will definitely be the way to go long term to save on unsprung weight.
I'll be installing these on Saturday so I'll have some pics and more accurate weight measurements then. Last edited by ChrisSlicks; 05-28-2009 at 10:22 PM. |

They are the Stoptech direct replacement rotors ordered from Concept-Z. The only real difference from stock is that they are slotted, and I'm hoping that they hold up to heat a little better than stock.
Have to say the service from Concept Z was outstanding. They were right on top of the order and had it shipped out same day. |

I'm having an issue with the brakes seemingly related to heat during auto-cross events. The problem usually surfaces after about 2-3 runs once the brakes have managed to build up some heat. I can't confirm that the rotors are the issue, it could also be a sensor malfunction related to the electronic brake force distribution, but the rotors were the easiest thing to try first. RCZ had a similar situation on the track.

Notice the slightly recessed hat. This sucker weighs in at 29 pounds! They are fully cadmium coated, also available with the black painted hats. Last edited by ChrisSlicks; 05-28-2009 at 10:09 PM. |
