Small bolt and spacer on the brake rotor.?
While replacing wheel studs yesterday on the front of my 370, i noticed a small bolt and metal spacer tube approx 1/2" long thats threaded to the rotor, goes into the rotor, maybe 2 full turns. just in 1 spot inbetween two of the lug holes. It sits there by itself, i'm curious to know what this is for, is it balance, alignment of the wheel to the rotor.?
Appreciate any feedback..:icon14: |
It's there so that People can't put rear wheels up front. I remove it to put on my winter wheels.

Ah, ok good deal. makes sense now. thanks..

yeah...I noticed the same thing when putting on my winter rims...just removed the bolt.

I don't believe this bolt serves any useful functional purpose other than as stated above. Remove it and store it in a bag with the other parts from various modifications (ie clutch pedal spring) :)
Btw, did any of you noticed (doubt it makes any difference), but the valve stem on the oe wheels is aligned to the same position as this bolt. That is, if the bolt is at 12oclock, so is the valve stem (assuming of course this is the first time you've removed the wheels). |
