They were put in for ducting, but Nissan saved a few bucks per unit by not venting. Several of the pre-production models ran around with ducts there. |

I was under the impression and read somewhere maybe on this forum that the fangs are used to direct down force to the front end and direct air to the radiator. So they were also used on some pre production units and had the fangs slotted to direct air to the brakes?

The "purpose built ducting " was mentioned in the 2011 brochure also. The 2012 brochure is the same exact brochure with a different front and back page. I have a 2010, so I'm not sure if there was a change for the '11s. But I'm guessing there aren't ducts. Just the marketing department and engineering department not communicating. Car and Drivers best handling cars under 40,000 was a 2011 z and they still had brake fade.

+ someone already tried custom porting from the fang to the brake. netted higher temps than without. i think it will be some sort of ducting through the bottom engine cover if there is such a thing perhaps?
