Optional Nissan Pads
Has anyone have or tried the optional Nismo pads?? Im looking into upgrading my brakes but dont want to go all out with some aggressive pads that dont last, make major dust, and cut into my rotors. My thoughts are to get some stainless lines, change out the brake fluid, and get some descent pads. If anyone has tried these pads please chime in or let me know what you would recommend. thanks!!

I got these on the new car without a choice so I really couldnt tell you the difference between these and the OEM pads. I will say I do hear minor squeal once in a blue moon, Great initial bite, and yes they will dust up the wheels. All in all, I will be purchasing them again come time to replace them

Good fluid is a solid change - I've used Motul and AP both on the the track without issue. I have the Goodridge lines and they are nice. Not a drastic difference (its not like our lines are super old and stretching out, you know?), but for peace of mind alone it was worth it. Just get some Hawk pads and call it good.

they have the hp+, which are good pads, but they dust, squeek and kill rotors like crazy. it did more damage in one day at the track for me than my xp8 in 5
yes about the squeel. i only have the xp10 in the back this week and it is squeeling so loud that i barely want to drive the car |

Alrighty then. Obviously I dont want any of the above issue's so whats my best option for an upgrade if any? Or should I just stay with the stock ones and change my oil and lines..

I love brake squeal and all that. Anything thats race like I love. I guess my passion runs deeper than most.
I have the HP+ and do like them. They are dusty and that doesn't bother me either. They work great for DD and spirited days. But I just had my first track day a couple weeks ago and the did start to lightly score the rotors. That was on a track that wasn't brake intensive. So I could easily see on a course that requires more braking and with a more experience driver that uses threshold braking technique to the fullest that your rotors would be tore up. I myself am about to get some Carbotech XP 8's for my next track next month. They should be perfect for I'll be running a street tire (RE 11's) and they shouldnt over work the tire as I have heard the XP 10's do.

Stay stock and change lines and better fluid. If you ever track or auto x just get some better pads and change them out for that particular event.

i am in the middle of some brake testing, i have about 7 brake combos to test. when i am done, i will post some results.
i am with mightybobo, i am raping my own ears with the stupid xp10 on the street. if you like that kind of attention, its perfect pads for you. go to youtube and search for 370z carbotech noise. |

if you want a good compromise just do what i did
posiquiets for the street / daily. Its quiet, super low dust. has less bite than the xp8 of course. Track i have a set of xp8 for front and rear. Swapping them doenst take THAT much time. Also, i have SS brake lines with Motul fluids. |
