Which Brake Pads?
Which pads would be good to replace the stock ones with? My pads are toast. As far as usage, I drive the car decently hard. Also, I am going to start autox. Anyone have any suggestions?

Wait for more suggestions man hehe, there will be others with different view points than mine which may fit your objectives better.

Honestly I think the XP10's are more track oriented. The issue with a track pad is that they don't work from cold, you need a couple of stops to get them warmed up. Wouldn't the AX6 work better for street/auto-x (unless you're using race rubber of course)?

I despised my DS2500's on the STI. I would go HP+ before DS2500
As Chris Pointed out, the carbo's may be a little more track oriented. My buddy ran Cobalts on his car for autox AND track and they were amazing, but again, those are more track oriented as well. Perhaps HP+ would be right up your alley...though they are noisy and dusty. |

Actually swapping the pads on the stock sport calipers is really easy, you spend most of the time jacking up the car and taking the wheels off. There are 2 long pins held in place by the anti-rattle clip spring tension. Squeeze the clip and pop the pin and the brake pads lift right out. The 2 pins also have a lock pin which should be reinstalled for safety. Just use a stubby phillips screwdriver to rotate the pin to line up the hole. You can do the whole job with a single pair of needle nose pliers if you want. |

The ferodos? Well for one, i went to the track and killed them in 2 sessions. They were DS2500s though, not the DS3000. After that, they never worked well on the street again. I think they got glazed...
Yes the carbotechs are noisy, but you can get that down a bit using anti-squeel paste and the stock shims. Yeah pad swaps are pretty easy, its an hour job if you do it in your garage... |

The same techniques can be applied on an AT car as well, especially on our 7AT, although most AT drivers really aren't the type to bother (or really even be aware of such things). |
