He might be charging you more because of the labor involved in removing and re-installing the calipers which is unstandable. They are fairly easy to remove though, just a couple of bolts and the brake line. I think there is a DIY somewhere here.
Also, its a good idea to change your brake fluid, lines, pads etc. while your at it.
