Anyone try these yet? I'm wondering why Stillen charges $330 for the Z/G versions but considerably less for every other car brand (~$220-260).

supply and demand... less Z's = less sales = more money for them .... i guess?

Hahaha, that is a very good point Spearfish. I'm curious to know as well, maybe they are willing to work on the price if you were to ask them.

I'm sorry Stillen, but most of your prices are rape with no gel. The price difference from other sites is nearly $70 smacks in the face regardless of supply and demand. What's highlt laughable is they put an MSRP of $416. I would like to know what planet sells $416 brake lines, considering Stop Tech and AP sell under $120" Those are top notch brake lines as well. Being that phantoms are likely to be the best of all lines.I would not pay more than $100 over G stops. Which I find as low as $190. Last edited by UNKNOWN_370; 05-07-2011 at 11:02 AM. |

Just get the Z1 ones, they are among the cheapest, and great quality. Any of these options are going to do their job.

The Phantom line specifically isnt even out yet for the 370. Stillen said my free set wont even be in for another month or so, just cause they arent done making it. So, nobody has tried them yet I dont think lol.

So now they sell products they haven't produced yet?
I'm still annoyed that my 'stainless steel' exhaust is actually crappy grade stainless that gets surface rust overa all the piping. Only the muffler, tips and resonators are higher grade that stay 'stainless'. And their exhaust costs about the same as most other full stainless CBE options that don't develop surface rust. I find myself disliking Stillen more and more these days.

The Goodridge Phantom Series lines are an upgrade from their 'normal' G-Stop brakeline kits, and feature black coated lines, upgraded stainless hardware, and are the top of the line of brakeline construction. If you're interested in the level of testing, R&D and multiple country safety certifications I can post it, but that can get a bit dull, but know that they do rigorous testing to ensure their product exceeds every current standard. In regards to cost over other applications, that's simple.. the sport brakes on the Z have more fittings, blocks and it's the OEM setup that dictate that additional cost, not overcharging, and definitely not "less Z's".. Quote:
That being said we'll happily match any pricing you find, and have them in stock, which I doubt you'll find many other places. Again, the part number and information are present for the 370Z Phantom kits, but they are still in production on Goodridge's side, it's not a matter of STILLEN producing them. We do list products that are scheduled to be available soon, just like every other automotive retailer, and are taking orders (without charging) for when they are available to ship. Additional cost for the brakeline kits for the Z's exist in the components necessary to properly upgrade the factory setup. Below is a picture of the regular G-Stops, you can see the additional attention paid to upgrading the stock setup, and doing things right. If you feel brakelines is something to compromise on quality, it's up to you, and not saying anything about other vendors, but I can assure you they don't have the ability or resources to R&D, test, and certify their products like Goodridge does. That's all they do.. |
