On the subject of pads? the stock pads are fine if you're not doing anything serious. IMO I do plenty of spirited driving and have not had any issues with the Akebonos with stock pads so far. Last edited by Trips; 04-17-2011 at 03:07 PM. |

I love how the guy is like "I don't do any form of racing"... except for the illegal kind that gets people killed.
I think the correct term for this guy is "Fucktard".

I can't even understand how someone would need better street pads than stock unless you are either:
A) Do a lot of auto-x (even then?) or occasionally track your car and don't feel like swapping pads out each time. B) Driving recklessly. I can't think of a single time on the street where I felt I needed better brakes. Our stock brake pads handle extremely well and can stop pretty damn quickly, certainly good enough for the street. Hell, the few times I did have to slam on my brakes, I couldn't even brake as hard as I would of liked, for fear of a giant SUV or truck slamming into the back of me.

There are some legal forms of street racing, such as the Spectre 341 challenge.
If you are just in for some spirited driving, the stock pads are great and stand up to some pretty intensive driving very well. If you don't track the car, it might be best to stay stock as some have experienced more frequent instances of 'ice mode' with higher friction coefficient pads as well.
